GEO Coordinator at Central Military Region

Department J5 Central Military Region (MR M)

You will belong to the defense planning unit J5 at MR M, which is now growing and looking for more employees. The J5 department is responsible for defense planning, total defense coordination, mobilization, GEO, and physics planning within MR M.

Main Responsibilities

The role of GEO Coordinator is new at the MR M staff, and you will have great opportunities to participate in the development of the tasks. In general, your main responsibilities will be to coordinate and develop geospatial services within MR M. You will represent MR M regarding geospatial services internally and externally and support both the MR M staff and units regarding geospatial issues. As a GEO Coordinator, you will work in several different systems, such as SA, FMAP, FMAP K, FMAP H, SWECCIS, ISUS, ISHV, and SitaWare HQ.

Tasks include:

  • Continuously compile the staff's geospatial needs
  • Work on the development and production of digital and analog map products for operations, exercises, and defense planning
  • Work on the development and updating of map layers to ensure an optimal updated situational picture over time for C MR M
  • Participate in the development of the IPB process
  • Engage in the effects process and planning process
  • Support geospatial issues during preparations, order writing, regional functional cooperation, and regional coordination meetings
  • Monitor regulations regarding the use of geographic information and develop internal regulations regarding geographic information
  • Annually update FM Basic Package GEO and update and manage MGI at MR M Staff
  • Coordinate the need for paper maps during operations and coordinate geoinformation services with other MR

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • GIS competence and a good understanding of what GIS is and how it can be used
  • Approved security training
  • Approved training in ISUS, SWECCIS
  • Good computer skills with solid knowledge of the Office suite
  • Driver's license at least class B

DESIRABLE

  • GIS competence and experience working with ESRI's software ArcGIS and SWECCIS SitaWare HQ
  • Training in ArcGIS PRO
  • Experience working in various command support systems
  • Experience regarding GEO in the Armed Forces
  • Experience and understanding of how total defense works with GIS in GRO and KRO

Employment type: Permanent employment, six months probationary period applies if you are not currently working in the Armed Forces

Information about the Armed Forces and the recruiting unit:

The Central Military Region (MR M) is a military unit and an organizational unit where the Commander and Staff are located in Kungsängen. The organization consists of a Commander with staff, six training groups for training and support of the Home Guard, and about 7000 Home Guard soldiers organized into eleven battalions and several independent units.

The Commander of the Central Military Region with the regional staff leads subordinate units, collaborates with regional and local actors, leads security and intelligence services, and supports operational and tactical commanders who solve tasks within the region. The region also serves as a link between the Armed Forces and civil society, has active cooperation with the County Administrative Board and the region. If necessary, MR M also leads operations, for example, during national crisis situations and support to society. The military region solves tasks in peace, crisis, and war.

The organization and operational area of the Central Military Region encompass the geographical counties of Stockholm, Uppsala, Södermanland, Västmanland, Dalarna, and Gävleborg. Training groups and the Home Guard are present in each county.
