Main Responsibilities

As the head of the Operations Section at Regional Staff Central (RS M), you will lead a section within the Implementation Department (J3) with primary responsibility for maintaining readiness and leading regional territorial operations in the short to medium term. As the head of the Operations Section, you report to the head of the Implementation Department (J3). The position entails budget and personnel responsibility for approximately 10–15 employees (including reserve officers), i.e., a Chief with Personnel Responsibility (CPA).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate readiness deployment of units from various OrgE.
  • Order operations within the framework of established orders.
  • Assign operational leaders for planning and management of operations on a short to medium-term basis (including training activities when applicable).
  • Lead RS M presentations of the territorial situation for C MR M (COMSAB).
  • Plan and conduct readiness follow-ups within the Central Military Region.
  • Plan, train, order, and maintain the guard organization (VB MR M) at RS M.
  • Quality assure compiled tactical reports from RS M to OPL.
  • Report continuously to the department head.
  • Participate in the preparation of various matters in RS M, including revision of order frameworks and staff tasks.
  • Personnel services (e.g., work schedule planning, employee dialogues, etc.).
  • Physical training according to FM Physical standards.
  • Serve as duty officer (VB MR M).

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Officer education (OF 3)
  • Driving license B
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English

Personal Qualities

The role of section chief entails significant responsibility and requires you to be solution-oriented, proactive, and capable of taking your own initiatives. You will have many contacts with the Armed Forces' operational organization at central, regional, and local levels, and we therefore expect you to be communicative and motivated to develop methods and collaborations. The workload can sometimes be high, so it requires you to manage working at a fast pace and simultaneously handle multiple tasks. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

DESIRABLE

  • PRIO, FM-AP, Sweccis NS, Sitaware HQ, ISUS, MGGI.
  • Served at units as CPA in a position equivalent to company commander.
  • Served at regiment, wing, or branch headquarters.
  • Knowledge of JCO, SOFO NAT, OPLAN SWEDEN.
  • Knowledge of the Protection Act, Security Protection Act, Accident Protection Act, Support Regulation, IKFN, FM ArbO.
  • Knowledge of the Home Guard.
  • Knowledge of personnel services regarding reserve officers.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Swedish crisis preparedness system, including laws/regulations and the Armed Forces' mandates and internal regulations regarding operations with military units.
  • Broad knowledge of the Armed Forces' organization and command structure, including experience from staff work both within the framework of PUT and for operational planning and execution.
  • Experience working with operational-related activities in the Armed Forces.

Other

Employment type: Permanent. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those not employed by the agency.

Employment degree: Full-time. Work during evenings and weekends may occur.

Work location: Kungsängen. The position involves periods of absence from the work location.

Start date: By agreement, but no later than 2026-10-01.

The Central Military Region (MR M) is a war unit and an organizational unit where the Chief and Staff are located in Kungsängen. The organization consists of a Chief with staff, six training groups for training and support of the Home Guard, and approximately 7000 Home Guard soldiers organized into eleven battalions and several independent units.

The Chief of the Central Military Region with the regional staff leads subordinate units, collaborates with regional and local actors, leads security and intelligence services, and supports operational and tactical commanders who solve tasks within the region. The region also serves as a link between the Armed Forces and civil society, actively cooperating with the county administrative board and the region. If necessary, MR M also leads operations, for example, during national crisis situations and support to society. The military region solves tasks in peace, crisis, and war.

The organization and operational area of the Central Military Region encompass the geographical counties of Stockholm, Uppsala, Södermanland, Västmanland, Dalarna, and Gävleborg. Training groups and Home Guard units exist in each county.
