Unit Manager for the Swedish Armed Forces Transport Unit

The Swedish Armed Forces Transport Unit is looking for a Unit Manager who wants to contribute to the continued development of the organization. The Transport Unit is currently in a growth phase where the position is central to strengthening unit leadership, coordination, and our development work to meet future demands.

About the Organization

The Swedish Armed Forces Logistics (FMLOG) is responsible for logistics support to units, schools, and centers within the Armed Forces, both nationally and internationally. Within FMLOG is the Transport Unit, which has a functional leadership responsibility for transport services within the Armed Forces.

The Transport Unit constitutes the central transport management of the Armed Forces and supports both the Armed Forces Headquarters and operations management with expertise in the transport sub-function. This role involves contacts with other authorities, branches of the armed forces, our allies, and the transport industry.

The unit is also responsible for coordinating and managing strategic and operational transports of personnel, equipment, and entire units, as well as the transit of allies through Sweden. The transport operations include air, sea, land, and rail transport, both within and outside the country.

The unit consists of five departments and is located in several locations across Sweden. The operations have an operational focus to provide the Armed Forces and its combat units, as well as our allies, the best possible conditions to accomplish their tasks, both now and in the future. You will be part of the Transport Unit's management team along with the deputy unit manager and staff manager.

Job Responsibilities

The Unit Manager supports and represents the head of the Transport Unit in matters related to operational management and development. The work includes unit leadership, production, training, and personnel and HR-related issues. You support the unit's incoming managers by providing and anchoring a military perspective in both daily operations and our development work, with a particular focus on the war organization.

Job responsibilities also include:

  • Planning, leading, and evaluating the unit's exercise and training activities
  • Planning and following up on functional and position training for officers, civilians, and soldiers
  • Leading and evaluating continuity planning for critical operations as well as war and reinforcement organization
  • Supervising the unit's training and support instructors (GSS/K)

Qualifications

  • Specialist officer, SO8, or SO7 with a good prognosis for SO8
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English
  • Experience in soldier training
  • Driver's license, at least class B

Personal Attributes

You are structured, solution-oriented, and flexible, with the ability to motivate and anchor decisions. You work independently towards set goals and have excellent collaboration skills. The role places high demands on social competence and personal maturity.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in independently leading and driving projects
  • Experience working in a battalion staff or equivalent level
  • Experience in functional/unit development and evaluation of subordinate units
  • Background in logistics, preferably transport services
  • Trained vehicle instructor/motor service
  • Trained instructor/examiner military security guard
  • Shooting range leader
  • Exercise leader SUSA/FUSA

Other Information

Military position, Specialist officer, the position is also open to reserve officers who wish to serve full-time for at least 18 consecutive months.

Employment type: Permanent. The Swedish Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those who are not already employed by the agency.

Employment rate: Full-time permanent

Work location: Stockholm

Business trips and participation in exercise activities occur regularly

Start date according to agreement

The position requires Swedish citizenship
