Intelligence Officer with a focus on crime fighting
Do you want to work in an authority that makes a difference in society? Do you also want meaningful, interesting, and exciting tasks within a crime-fighting intelligence operation with engaged colleagues? If so, the Swedish Customs is for you.
The operational activities of the Swedish Customs are divided into four departments: Intelligence, Customs Crime, Control, and Revenue Collection. The Intelligence Department conducts intelligence operations with deliveries to all parts of the Swedish Customs. The department handles intelligence and risk analysis and works with both illegal and dangerous goods as well as revenue collection. The work aims to prevent, detect, and prevent criminal activities.
The department is divided into four areas with geographical responsibility: South, West, East, and North, which also includes the Swedish Customs' selection center and the unit for strategic analysis and national desk. We are now looking for intelligence officers with a focus on crime fighting for our intelligence unit in the east, located in Stockholm and/or Norrköping.
About the position
In the role of intelligence officer, you will work with the collection, processing, analysis, and dissemination of intelligence information/products in various formats. In your daily work, you will have very close cooperation with other officers, intelligence leaders, and group managers. You will present cases and conclusions to relevant recipients both in writing and orally, as well as through visualization of the information in, for example, link diagrams, maps, and charts after training in relevant work areas.
In the work, internal cooperation within the department as well as with other operational parts of the Swedish Customs is a natural part and also the core of well-founded intelligence work is a given. The intelligence work is conducted nationally, which means collaboration with and sometimes presence in other main locations. National and international cooperation with other authorities, especially with law enforcement agencies, is also a natural part of daily operations. There may also be some travel both nationally and internationally. The intelligence operations are dynamic and sometimes unpredictable, which means that tough and fast prioritizations may sometimes need to be made, placing high demands on good adaptability and flexibility in your cases and tasks. Since information collection is largely done in various data systems, we place high demands on the ability to work with large amounts of data.
The operations are in constant development, and improvement work is part of everyday life.
We are looking for you who have:
- Post-secondary education in, for example, criminology, behavioral science, political science, or other relevant education for the position that the employer assesses as equivalent
- Experience in operational intelligence work or work with preliminary investigations (investigator/analyst) at a government agency
- Good ability to express yourself well in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing
- Good knowledge of the Office suite, especially Excel
- Driver's license, class B for passenger cars
- Swedish citizenship.
It is meritorious if you have:
- Training in operational intelligence work at a government agency
- Experience of national and/or international cooperation, primarily with law enforcement agencies
- Knowledge of programming and/or database management
- Experience working with large amounts of data
- Experience working with secret coercive measures
- Training in the systems that handle secret coercive measures
- Good knowledge of iBase, Analyst’s Notebook, Geotime, and other information systems
