The police area of Jönköping is divided into three local police areas: Höglandet, Södra Vätterbygden, and Värnamo. At the police area level, there is an investigation section and a police area office.

The local police area Höglandet is part of the police area Jönköping. Within the local police area, there are intervention and crime prevention activities, investigation groups, as well as support and service.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The work as a youth investigator involves independent handling and responsibility for various types of criminal investigations and investigative measures. The tasks are varied and require you to independently organize your work according to the prevailing priorities. As an investigator, you work both individually and in smaller groups depending on what needs to be managed, and you collaborate with both internal and external contacts such as prosecutors, legal representatives, and social services. The cases are led by police investigation leaders and in some cases by prosecutors.

As a youth investigator, you primarily work with investigations where the suspected person is between 15-17 years old, but it also includes investigations under the law on young offenders where the suspect can be younger than 15 years. You also have contact with guardians and social services in these investigations.

Main responsibilities:

  • Investigative work, e.g., interviews, investigative analyses, and execution of various coercive measures.
  • Handling cases with deadlines and, in some cases, detained individuals.
  • Collaboration with prosecutors and legal representatives.
  • Information sharing internally and externally.

The investigative operations at LPO Höglandet are conducted in two investigation groups, both consisting of a group leader, investigation leader, investigators, and administrators. Together, the groups are responsible for the cases that come into the local police area. The local police area also has an external investigation team that is part of the external operational capability and works with investigative measures in all types of cases.

We want the investigative operations at LPO Höglandet to be characterized by a dynamic working method where we adapt to the current situation and the type of cases we are handling. We want to be proactive and contribute to preventing and reducing crime in our area. We want to be effective and act closely to the crimes we investigate. We lead on measures and work together with others to succeed, both internally and externally.

We operate according to business-adapted hours, so evening and weekend work may occur.

QUALIFICATIONS

This is an opportunity for you who have:

  • A university degree in, for example, behavioral science, criminology, law, or other education combined with work experience that the employer deems relevant.
  • Recent work experience in independent handling/investigative work, for example, from the Police Authority, social services, social emergency services, or other areas that the employer deems relevant for the role.
  • The ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing.
  • Good ability to communicate in English.
  • Good IT skills.
  • A driving license (B).

It is meritorious if you also have:

  • Worked within the police's criminal investigation process.
  • Experience in investigative work from law enforcement authorities.
  • Experience in collecting, analyzing, and preparing large data sets from various data sources.
  • Experience in documentation and handling of confidential cases.

Personal qualities

As a person, you have the ability to independently plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively. You also have good collaboration skills and work well with others. You are communicative, trustworthy, and have an easy time making contact with others. The work requires good problem-solving analytical skills where you work well with complex issues. The work also requires that you remain calm, controlled, and focused on the right things in stressful situations. Furthermore, you need to be flexible and have the ability to adjust your work pace.

We will place great emphasis on personal qualities.

Work location: Eksjö. Work in Tranås, Nässjö, and Vetlanda may occur.
Working hours: Weekly planning, 5:2, evening and weekend work may occur.
Start date: By agreement.
Function: Youth Investigator.
