Our Operations
The Department of Orthopedics and Hand Surgery is a workplace in constant development, consisting of an orthopedic adult emergency department, management of acute and elective orthopedic conditions, as well as a pediatric orthopedic unit with both acute and elective operations. The main focus is both highly specialized and basic-oriented orthopedic care within seven different sections divided into spine surgery, prosthetic surgery, fracture surgery, shoulder/knee surgery, foot surgery, hand surgery, and pediatric orthopedics. In addition to patients from Uppsala County, a large number of national/region patients are handled within each subspecialty, and the department has extensive collaboration with orthopedic clinics in the region. The department has around 250 employees.
Your Mission
As a fellow with us, you will work with both elective and acute spine surgery at one of Sweden's most advanced spine surgery units, with the competence to operate the entire spine.
Your work will be located at Uppsala University Hospital and at the units we collaborate with.
The department has a clear academic profile with education for medical students and doctors at all stages of their careers, as well as other basic and specialist training. We conduct research in close collaboration with national and international partners and actively work on quality and patient safety issues with a focus on proactive operational development.
As a fellow in the spine section, you will become part of a team with great clinical and academic commitment. There is an opportunity to participate in ongoing research projects. On-call duty may be included by agreement.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is a specialist in orthopedics or neurosurgery with an interest in and experience of spine surgery. An academic profile is highly meritorious. We value a strong personal drive, good collaboration skills, and a humble, responsible attitude. Pedagogical ability and interest in operational development are seen as an asset.
