Svenska Sjöräddningssällskapet SSRSVästra Götalands län, Göteborg
Previous experience is desired
Do you want to contribute to a vital community effort while creating world-class communication? We are now looking for a temporary communicator for 12 months, starting by agreement, as our colleague goes on parental leave. There is a possibility of extension after the temporary position ends.
With us, volunteerism, professionalism, and commitment are at the core. Every day, all year round, more than 2,500 volunteer sea rescuers are ready to respond when the alarm goes off. Help is on the way in less than 15 minutes – completely without government funding. Our communication is crucial for spreading knowledge, building trust, and enabling our continued work to save lives at sea.
About the role
You will be part of our communication and fundraising team (KomIn), which consists of six dedicated colleagues. The team is responsible for the organization's overall communication, brand, press, digital channels, campaigns, and fundraising support. We work both strategically and operationally and have many points of contact – both internally and externally.
As a communicator, you will play a key role in the daily work. You will drive and produce content for our digital channels, work editorially from idea to publication, and be an important support in press and media issues. The role suits you who are self-driven, creative, and enjoy working with short lead times in an organization where situations can arise quickly.
Responsibilities
You will, among other things:
- Plan, produce, and publish content in our digital channels
- Work with web publishing
- Create and follow up on content in our social channels
- Produce and send newsletters
- Work editorially – from idea and planning to finished publication
- Follow up and analyze results in our channels
- Handle press inquiries and contribute to press-related issues
- Collaborate with colleagues at the headquarters and our volunteers across the country
Your background
We are looking for someone with at least 5 years of documented experience in qualified and independent communication work, where you have had your own responsibility for planning, production, and follow-up of digital communication.
You have:
- Very good ability to write clear, correct, and target group-adapted texts
- Experience in ongoing content production and publication in digital channels
- Good understanding of editorial processes
- Basic knowledge of image and video editing
- Experience in working with follow-up and analysis
- Familiarity with handling press and media contacts
Your background is likely from an organization where you have successfully worked with social media and editorial communication, preferably in a content or communication agency. You express yourself very well in writing and are comfortable adapting tone for different target groups. If you also have experience in the non-profit sector, membership organizations, or have been active in associations, it is an advantage.
We are looking for someone who is independent and confident in your professional role and who is collaborative and used to many points of contact. You are quick in thought and action when circumstances change. If you are also structured, meticulous, and solution-oriented, and generous with ideas and suggestions for improvement, you will thrive and succeed in the role with us.
At the Sea Rescue Society, you will be part of a meaningful organization where people voluntarily step up around the clock to save lives. You work closely with reality and get to help tell about efforts that make a concrete difference.
