Region Blekinge has a permanent mandate from the state to coordinate regional development issues and lead the work of developing the regional development strategy (RUS).

Regional development is the area within Region Blekinge that drives these missions. We are passionate about Blekinge and work to create the best sustainable development for our region and to make Blekinge an even better place to live, work, and develop.

The regional development mission includes gathering municipalities, authorities, universities and colleges, science parks and clusters, businesses, and civil society around RUS and coordinating efforts for the implementation of the strategy. A large part of this work is carried out in project form, both national and international projects.

We are now looking for a strategist who can work with regional project financing and international collaborations for the department of sustainable community planning within the area of Regional development.

The Job

As a strategist focusing on regional project financing, you will be responsible for independently driving development within regional project financing as well as with Region Blekinge's international platforms. You will proactively work with relevant calls for prioritized needs according to the regional development strategy, as well as participate in relevant application processes. You will be the contact person for our representation office in Brussels, as well as the contact person for Euroregion Baltic EGTS and be part of its international secretariat. The position also includes being part of the preparation and prioritization process regarding structural funds, including Interreg, and providing feedback on assignments to the regional development committee. The assignment includes close communication with our other strategists at Region Blekinge and with other actors in the field by being the convener of Blekinge's EU network.

About You

We are looking for someone with an academic education relevant to the position, such as a social science education or similar. You should have experience in strategic work with international issues and EU funds. Experience in project development/project activities focusing on regional development issues is an advantage. You are comfortable expressing yourself in English, which is the working language in international networks and programs.

To thrive in the role of strategist with us, you are interested in social issues. You have a good ability to collaborate with both internal and external actors, and enjoy working with long-term processes. In leading and coordinating regional development processes, you are proactive and comfortable representing regional development issues. You are confident in organizing and leading meetings and information sessions. Travel is a natural part of the job, both within and outside Sweden. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Region Blekinge places all permanent staff in a crisis management role.
