Court Administrator at Halmstad District Court
Every day, hundreds of cases and matters are decided in Sweden's courts. At Halmstad District Court, we are about 40 employees with different competencies who together uphold legal certainty and high quality in all aspects. We handle criminal cases, civil cases, matters, and bankruptcies and are organized into four units: the judge unit, the preparation unit, the case unit, and the administrative unit.
We are located in central Halmstad with a view of the Nissan River and offer a stimulating and developing work environment with opportunities for both internal and external training.
As a court administrator, you will be offered varied and developing tasks in an important operation. You will be responsible for managing the administrative preparation and handling of all types of cases and matters that the district court deals with.
Daily contacts occur with parties, representatives, authorities, and the public. Your tasks may include preparing and planning for trials, managing correspondence, monitoring deadlines, receiving and registering information in cases and matters, acting as a minute-taker during hearings, issuing judgments, and archiving documents. You will also, after a decision on delegation, perform actions independently such as appointing a public defender.
Working according to structure and maintaining a professional approach is a given for you. You create good relationships with your colleagues and contribute your expertise and engagement to both the group's collective work and the entire operation. You will represent the court externally and instill confidence in various personal contacts.
In the role of court administrator, unexpected situations may arise, which means you need to have a flexible approach. The work pace can be high at times, which makes it important that you can work constructively and make decisions even under pressure. You must be able to prioritize tasks and have the ability to analyze and solve problems. We have high demands that you are responsible, meticulous, and concerned that the handling of our cases is done correctly. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities such as good judgment, a positive attitude, and humility. You should have good cooperation skills and be able to work both independently and in a team. You should have an inclusive perspective and uphold the governmental values that guide the operations of Sweden's courts.
To be considered for the position, you must meet high standards regarding security awareness. Background checks may be conducted prior to employment.
We are looking for someone who has:
- An academic degree, for example, a bachelor's degree in political science or another relevant social science education
- Good experience working with computers and digital methods as well as an interest in IT and digitalization
- Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both spoken and written
- Very good administrative skills and experience working in a structured manner
It is advantageous if you have experience working in case handling/preparation, especially valuable if this experience is from working in a court or any of the authorities we interact with daily in our work.
You are structured, meticulous, and have a very high sense of responsibility. You can independently organize and prioritize your work, even during periods of high workload.
We hope you thrive in a role where legal accuracy is combined with a professional and service-oriented approach – where you can confidently meet both the public and professional actors.
You have good cooperation skills and actively contribute to the workplace's collective work, business development, and a good working climate.
The work within the case unit is primarily teamwork that requires humility, maturity, flexibility, as well as good collaboration and communication skills. You work well both independently and in a group. As a person, you are stable and reliable. You have the ability to create good relationships both internally and externally.
Personal qualities
We place great emphasis on personal qualities. To be considered for employment, you must meet high standards regarding judgment, security awareness, and suitability.
