Welcome to us

Are you interested in working for our elderly citizens this summer and gaining experience in public administration?

We are now looking for summer substitute caseworkers in the Elderly Care department, Hässelby Vällingby district administration.

We offer

As an employee in one of our ordering units within elderly care, you will be offered a workplace that values professionalism and legal certainty highly.

You will have the opportunity for flexible hours and some wellness benefits. It is easy to find us as we are located in the district's administrative building, close to the subway at Hässelby Torg. Our premises have been newly renovated since last summer, and we share offices, which creates extra closeness for support and guidance from colleagues.

Today, we have 27 caseworkers who assess needs, make decisions, and follow up on interventions according to the Social Services Act for people over 65 years old. The ordering units are led by two unit managers, and within the units, there are also group leaders, mentors/method developers, operational controllers, transport service caseworkers, and administrative staff.

Together, we create a wonderful work joy while supporting each other and sharing our knowledge and experiences.

Your role

In your role as a summer substitute caseworker, you will be responsible for receiving applications according to the Social Services Act, assessing needs, making decisions, and following up on granted interventions. Handling transport service assessments may also be part of your duties. You will conduct home visits, office visits, and visits within inpatient care. You will collaborate both internally within the administration and with external actors such as healthcare. Your work as a caseworker is significant and multifaceted, as you will work in dialogue with the elderly to find a solution for their unique individual needs.

Your skills and experience

We are looking for someone who is/has:

  • currently studying or graduated social worker, or has an equivalent education that we deem suitable for the assignment.
  • very good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form is a requirement, as a large part of the tasks consists of legally secure case management and documentation.
  • knowledge of current legislation in elderly care.

Meritorious is:

  • previous experience from the elderly care sector, for example from practical training, as well as competence in areas such as mental health or substance abuse.
  • experience from Stockholm City's documentation systems Paraplyet and LifeCare.

You need to be proactive and accustomed to working independently and structured by planning, organizing, and prioritizing your work well.

As a caseworker in elderly care, you often meet people in need of support, often with complex life situations. It is therefore important that you have good social skills, are trustworthy, attentive, and have a respectful and empathetic approach. To thrive with us, you should have excellent collaboration skills and enjoy working with other professionals, with the individual in focus.

We hope you can work from June to August 2026, with the possibility to start working one to two days a week already during the spring.
