Job Description

A large and mission-critical program is in the implementation phase and needs reinforcement in the form of testing expertise. The assignment includes work related to the development, maintenance, and support of system solutions within both projects and management, such as design, development, testing, and management of applications for control systems.

The daily work takes place in an agile team. The role involves working with requirements and analysis by understanding the business needs and contributing to making requirements clear, testable, and verifiable. The work is done in close collaboration with development teams consisting of system developers, requirement owners, and other relevant stakeholders to identify ambiguities in the requirements and ensure a common understanding before development, testing, and production deployment.

The tester is responsible for planning, executing, and documenting tests of agreed system solutions before delivery, focusing on early identification of deviations and deficiencies. The work includes several types of tests such as functional tests, integration tests, and acceptance tests based on established test strategies and test plans.

The role involves active participation in the project's various phases to ensure that testing is continuously considered during development. The tester documents and follows up defects, verifies actions, and ensures that the right quality is achieved before delivery.

Furthermore, the consultant is expected to contribute to the improvement of testing processes and methods by sharing experiences, analyzing test results, and suggesting improvements for increased quality in future deliveries.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in testing work within agile teams and projects and perform tests according to established quality goals and methods
• Develop and further enhance test strategies
• Conduct tests at multiple test levels, such as functional tests and integration tests, with a primary focus on system testing and acceptance testing
• Report status, risks, and deviations in a structured manner
• Contribute to increased testability through requirement reviews and ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, and identified defects
• Design, document, and execute test cases including test data and checklists for various test levels, test environments, security aspects, and release verification
• Report, follow up, and verify deviations through participation in triage, retest, and regression testing
• Participate in test automation and collaborate with development teams to integrate tests into CI/CD flows where applicable
• Document test results and contribute to materials for test reports and decision support before delivery
• Support troubleshooting and management through verification of corrections, patches, and system changes
• Contribute test and quality perspectives in design and implementation discussions
• Communicate clearly about test results, risks, and quality-related recommendations to teams and stakeholders

Mandatory Requirements

• University education of 120 credits/180 ECTS in IT or at least 10 years of relevant work experience in system development or IT architecture that we assess as equivalent
• At least 5 years of experience, from the last 10 years, in system development
• At least 5 years of experience actively working with system testing and acceptance testing of IT systems or software, including work with requirements analysis and review of requirements from a testing and quality perspective. The experience should be linked to projects where IT systems have been built, changed, or maintained
• At least 5 years of experience in test design, including the creation of test cases, test data, and structured test scenarios
• Documented experience of working according to established test strategies and test plans for complex systems or integration solutions
• At least 3 years of experience in planning and conducting integration tests or testing complex information systems and/or environmental architectures
• At least 3 years of experience working with testing in agile teams (e.g., Scrum, Kanban), including planning, execution, and follow-up of testing activities within IT or system development projects

Desirable Requirements

• Documented experience of working with deviation management, test follow-up, and traceability in tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or equivalent
• Documented experience of working with and further developing test automation and integrating automated tests into CI/CD flows (e.g., Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions, or equivalent), in collaboration with development teams
• Experience in environments with high demands for security, robustness, or operational stability, such as the energy sector, defense sector, or equivalent
