About the job

Swedish development cooperation is conducted in collaboration with organizations that implement aid initiatives. As a business controller, you play an important role in how Sida manages aid funds. You work closely with case officers, managers, and program administrators and have an active role in planning, following up, and ensuring the quality of the initiatives. To thrive in the role of controller, you need to have integrity and be able to lead the work of quality assurance based on rules, guidelines, and instructions.

You will work at our office in Rissne Sundbyberg.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and support to case officers and managers regarding:
  • - Partners' capacity and ability to plan,
  • implement and follow up on aid initiatives, for example regarding organization, governance, financial administration, and systems
  • - Contract design
  • - Financial planning and follow-up,
  • - Risk analysis and risk management,
  • - Analysis of financial reports and audit reports,
  • Ensure the quality of the handling of initiatives and contribute to compliance
  • Contribute to the follow-up of initiatives through meetings with partners and field visits
  • Follow up on the total aid funds managed by the unit
  • Participate in Sida's anti-corruption work
  • Contribute to the further development of the controller's role and working methods, including active participation in Sida's controller network
  • Other tasks as required by the unit.

Qualifications

Education

  • Academic education equivalent to at least three years of full-time studies in economics, e.g., in financing, accounting, or auditing.

Language

  • Very good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.

Work experience and knowledge

  • Several years of current experience in economic and operational management, financial planning, and follow-up.
  • Several years of current experience in internal governance and control as well as quality assurance.
  • Experience in risk assessment and anti-corruption work,
  • Experience in analyzing financial reports and audit reports.

This requires you to be able to organize and structure your work. A prerequisite for succeeding in the role is that you are good at communicating, building relationships, and collaborating to achieve results. You also need to have high integrity, stand up for rules, and be able to handle resistance. We see it as important that you are analytical, can see how things are interconnected, and have the ability to absorb knowledge and translate it into action – especially when it comes to analyzing financial reports and results.

For this role, it is advantageous if you have

  • Experience in development work in an international environment and in low- and middle-income countries
  • Experience from working in government administration

Good to know

The position is a permanent employment with immediate start. A probationary period applies.

Sida offers the possibility of remote work to some extent if it works for the organization.
