The area of operations (VO) neurosurgery and pain rehabilitation in Lund is one of seven neurosurgical operations in Sweden. We offer highly specialized care in the southern healthcare region to patients of all ages with injuries and diseases of the central nervous system. The operation consists of an operating department, neuro-intensive care unit (NIVA), outpatient clinic, inpatient ward, and day care. Currently, the operation employs over 250 staff members. Within the area of operations, research projects are conducted where, among others, surgical staff are involved. For example, we have started operating patients in an MRI and also have a surgical nurse conducting research.

The operating department is equipped with high-tech equipment including navigation systems, microscopes, and ultrasound equipment. We perform both short and longer procedures. Approximately 30 staff members work in the Neurosurgery Department operation, collaborating closely in interdisciplinary teams consisting of surgical nurses, nursing assistants, radiology nurses, biomedical technicians, operations staff, and medical secretaries. Additionally, we have a close collaboration with anesthesiology staff in the unit. The majority of the staff have many years of experience in neurosurgical care, and we highly value care quality, safety, security, and hygiene.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a nursing assistant, you will be part of the team around the patient's care during surgery and play a significant role in collaborating with colleagues in the surgical team. You will work with common tasks for nursing assistants in the operating department, primarily by assisting the surgical nurse and surgeon during operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant and meets the requirements of the National Board of Health and Welfare for a protected professional title, regardless of whether you have studied under previous or current program structures. Good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written, are a requirement.

We would prefer that you have previous work experience as a nursing assistant. Experience working in an operating environment and with surgeries is desirable. If you have training as a specialist nursing assistant with a focus on anesthesia, surgery, or intensive care, this is also valuable for the position.

To succeed in the role of nursing assistant with us, you need to be stress-resistant and maintain calm even in pressured situations. As tasks may vary and one day is not like the other, it is also important that you are flexible and take great responsibility in your work role. Additionally, you should be good at communicating and contribute to a pleasant work atmosphere in the team. Since we are very keen to find a person who fits well into our surgical team, we place great importance on personal suitability.

Please note that you need to attach certificates/diplomas (not just a diploma) from your nursing assistant training for your application to be considered complete. If you have received your certificate of protected professional title, this should also be attached to your application. You need to present proof of protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare or a certificate that you were permanently employed on July 1, 2023. If you do not have this proof, you will be employed as a care assistant and the employment will be temporary, pending the proof.
