Vaggeryd Municipality is now looking for you who want to engage as a contact person for a child, a youth, or an adult. As a contact person, you provide extra support in everyday life – someone to meet regularly, do activities together with, or just talk to. The goals of the assignment can vary and always stem from the individual's needs.

The role of a contact person involves creating a safe and trusting relationship. This may involve meeting once a week or every other week for a walk, coffee, homework help, or any other activity you agree upon. Often, it is the everyday and continuous interactions that make the biggest difference.

It is important to know that the role of a contact person is a volunteer assignment, not an employment. You will not be employed by the municipality, but will undertake an assignment from the social services where your personality, engagement, and ability to be a stable adult are central.

Before you can become a contact person, we always conduct an investigation that includes an interview, background check, and reference checks. During the investigation period, an assessment is made regarding whether you can be approved as a contact person and what type of assignment would suit you. The purpose is to ensure that the assignment is safe and sustainable for both you and the person you will meet. It is also important that you have good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form.

As a contact person, you will receive a fee and reimbursement for expenses according to SKR's recommendations. This is not a salary, but compensation for the assignment you perform and the costs incurred in the assignment.

You do not need any special qualifications, but we are looking for someone who has time, commitment, and a desire to be there for someone else. The most important thing is that you are reliable, attentive, and interested in making a difference in another person's life.
