Family Support Worker for Open Care in Lindesberg Municipality

We are taking a step further and are looking for an additional family support worker for open care in Lindesberg Municipality. The Social Services and the Department of Education are working together to provide children and their families with the opportunity for a safer existence and functioning schooling based on each child's and youth's needs.

Organizationally, family support workers fall under the open care of the Social Services, where there is a broad and consolidated competence around working with families. Family support workers are an important part of the social services' promotional and preventive work and completely in line with the new intentions of the Social Services Act. The starting point during the child's upbringing is the Family Center, and in school age, the idea is that family support workers should be a natural part of the families who wish for support in their parenting so that children can have a functioning schooling and upbringing. Together with other important actors around the family, we collaborate closely to make a difference for each child and youth early on. We work together with Backa barnet as part of the method to make a difference.

The open care consists of engaged and knowledgeable colleagues who become an important foundation for succeeding in the mission. Here, there is an opportunity for supervision, professional development, but also to grow in your role with the support of helpful and caring colleagues.

Lindesberg Municipality offers the possibility of flexible working hours, vacation exchange, as well as exercise hours or wellness grants.

The main workplace will be at a selected school within Lindesberg Municipality and in close collaboration with the school and student health team, but also other important actors.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

What does it mean to work as a family support worker?

You primarily work from a promotional and preventive perspective and will be a natural part of the everyday life at school, meeting guardians and students by being a link in the dialogue that takes place between school, student, and family where needed.

By supporting and strengthening guardians regarding matters concerning the child and their development, the conditions for succeeding in school are strengthened. You are a natural part of everyday life at school to meet guardians and students. Much of the work is individually tailored based on the family's need for support, both through individual conversations, groups with various themes, or other needs that arise from the role of family support worker. Being a natural sounding board for everyday family questions is an important part of the work. A strong focus is placed on relational work, working together with school staff to foster good relationships with guardians and students to promote student development. Collaboration with other important partners in society is also a central part of the work.

Since it is quite new to have family support workers in schools, it will be important to find forms of collaboration and to follow up on the work being done to ensure it is as effective and supportive as intended. Together with colleagues, continue to develop the role, but also find your own role in the relevant school.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with relevant education from university, for example, a social worker or behavioral scientist.

We are looking for someone with great commitment and self-motivation to drive processes, take initiatives, have a good ability to create relationships, and be flexible to achieve success. Being able to follow up on the work to find the right level requires you to be analytical and open to the parts that work well but also the parts that need to be improved to achieve more success together with the family. Being brave and thinking outside the box to achieve a safe and supportive outcome. Being warm in your approach but still able to set boundaries when necessary.

We believe that to succeed in the role, you should have worked in social services or schools for a few years.

Since Lindesberg Municipality is large, it is required that you have a driver's license and can drive in your work.

We will place great importance on personal qualities. It is an advantage if you have experience from previous jobs that resemble this position. We will also require a background check upon hiring.
