Part-time Nurse

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (SiS) is an authority responsible for individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this in youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your work life will be an exciting challenge. Regardless of where you work in our organization or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.

Job Description

At SiS, the heart is the most important aspect of our work. It is through compassion, good interactions, and your ability to see, hear, and create vital changes in our youth regarding health, general health care issues, and student health that you assist those who need it most. Being a nurse at Granhult is very different, but also one of the most rewarding and enjoyable jobs you will ever find. The workplace varies between reception work, counseling with youth, training staff, student health, and collaboration in multiprofessional teams. You will work with young people who often have not had a positive experience with health care, or sometimes no experience at all. Additionally, you contribute to a stable daily life, which is seen as part of their trauma treatment.

You will be responsible for medical consultations and medication management. Furthermore, you will make your own health assessments and prioritize the needs of the youth, educate and delegate parts of the medication management to relevant staff at the institution, and create routines and structures that meet the requirements for the health care provided within SiS. In your work, you will document in the Take Care journal system and in SiS's own journal system KAJ. The position is varied and requires initiative but also offers great opportunities to create a unique operation where you have significant influence over your work and the youth's understanding of themselves and their environment. You will work closely with our nurse based in Brotorp, other professionals at the institution, such as management and department staff, which requires good collaboration skills. You will mainly be based in our Norrgården department (formerly Granhult), Lindesberg, but belong to the Bergsmansgården institution.

Qualifications

You take a holistic view in everything you do and choose the right strategies to achieve your goals in helping our youth with health and wellness issues and student health. You are independent and flexible, which helps you succeed in a changing daily environment. Additionally, you are pedagogical and reach out to those who need it most, even when it is challenging. Further keys to your success are your communication skills and initiative that you demonstrate both in collaborations with your colleagues and with the youth.

You should also have:

  • A valid nursing license.
  • Experience in meeting people in vulnerable life situations.
  • A valid driver's license and access to your own car.

It is an advantage if you have:

  • Experience working in student health.
  • Experience in substance abuse care, psychiatry, emergency care, or similar.

At SiS, we value good employee engagement. This means that you as an employee take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good collaboration. Read more about our employee engagement.
