The Palliative Care Department is organizationally part of the Administration for Close Care and Health, operational area (VO) mobile teams and specialized palliative care, southwestern Skåne. We offer specialized palliative care and have a close collaboration with Advanced Home Care (ASIH) and cooperate with hospitals, primary care, and municipalities to provide the best possible care to our patients.

The Palliative Care Department in Malmö is an inpatient department with 12 care places. Patients offered care with us are in a late palliative stage or need stabilization of symptoms.

We work in interdisciplinary physician-led teams where the focus is to make a difference every day for our patients and their relatives. Competence development is offered to you individually through relevant university courses, training developed within the Palliative Development Center, competence development time, as well as ongoing internal training and lectures.

We are looking for a nurse who finds it interesting, developing, and value-creating to work in an organization where the patient's needs are at the center.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The patients enrolled in the organization have a need for specialized palliative care, which means they have a complex symptom profile or their life situation entails special needs. These needs can be of a physical, psychological, existential, or spiritual nature, or a combination of several.

As a nurse, your tasks and care vary from handling injections, infusions, medication pumps, catheter placements, oxygen, and dressings to participating in close care and providing supportive conversations and family support. It is important to us that you are curious about continuous development and that you contribute your competence and communication skills to achieve set goals.

You will be part of an interdisciplinary team that works based on person-centered care, where the goal of the care is to collaborate and alleviate symptoms to achieve the highest possible quality of life for the patients.

This position involves night shifts, and your employment will be at the palliative care department with duties two out of six weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse with the authority to practice within Swedish healthcare. Language skills corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe’s level scale are required. We would prefer that you have a specialist education or further training in palliative care and/or experience working in palliative care.

As a person, you are empathetic, calm, and secure, and you have an easy time communicating. You are a natural team player and see the whole picture around the patient and their needs. You contribute solutions and suggestions to develop our work. Furthermore, you are curious, flexible, communicative, and enjoy challenges. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

The Administration for Close Care and Health has been in existence since January 1, 2025. The administration is responsible for grant-funded care activities within close care. This includes, among other things, mobile teams and specialized palliative care, outpatient care within close care, acute care within close care, 1177 by phone, and some region-wide functions. In addition, the administration is responsible for the development and follow-up of the transition to close care in Region Skåne. The number of employees is expected to be around 1,000.
