The hospital in Ystad is an emergency hospital with a wide range of specialized care. It is a smaller hospital with a family-like atmosphere and good opportunities for participation. We offer healthcare with quality and accessibility, a holistic view, and care as hallmarks. The intensive care and postoperative department in Ystad currently has three intensive care beds, two intermediate beds, and also postoperative care beds that are staffed around the clock. Work in the intensive care unit is multidisciplinary together with nursing assistants, doctors, social workers, and physiotherapists. Every week we also have competency-enhancing lectures in the unit.

What is unique about us is that we are a smaller hospital, but we do a lot that gives us broad competence. We have a strong community, and we get to know the staff in other departments as we also have close collaboration. This is something I have not experienced before in larger hospitals, says intensive care nurse Ted.

With us, intensive care focuses on general intensive care, where we also offer prism treatment in our high-tech environment. The focus of our operations is general surgery, gynecology, urology, orthopedics, and ear-nose-throat.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In our department, you will receive an introduction tailored to your experiences and competencies so that you can integrate into the operation in the best way. Furthermore, we offer you mentorship from a more experienced colleague, so you can have a safe and stable start with us. We use working hours with a quota model, where you have the opportunity to influence your schedule and time for recovery.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you who are a trained nurse with the authority to practice in Swedish healthcare. You have knowledge of Swedish corresponding to at least level C1 according to the Council of Europe's level scale. To be considered for the position, you must have at least two years of clinical experience in the profession. Furthermore, you should have applied for a specialist nurse in intensive care on a full-time or part-time basis starting in the autumn semester of 2026. If you have applied for part-time, we will develop an individual plan for how the arrangement looks for you. To be considered for the position, you should not have previously received paid specialist training.

We are looking for someone with a positive attitude who is flexible and outgoing. Since we work under the principle of freedom with responsibility, you need to have personal maturity and a good ability to collaborate with different colleagues. This is a position for someone who can quickly adapt to changed conditions and requires that you as a person are stress-resistant.
