About the job

As a sterilization technician at UDS, you will work in a varied everyday life in a 24/7 operation at Sweden's only university animal hospital. Here, we work evidence-based with complex cases and have access to modern equipment.

Your tasks usually include common tasks in a sterilization center. We serve and collaborate with the surgical units in both the small animal and equine departments, as well as the ambulatory clinic and several other smaller internal units.

You will work together with our other sterilization technicians to promote collaboration between our different departments. You will have close contact with veterinarians and nurses in the departments. Planning and logistics go hand in hand with what the operation requires.

The position is primarily scheduled during the day, but evening and weekend shifts may occur according to the schedule.

Your background

We are looking for someone who is in training to become or is a qualified sterilization technician. It is an advantage if you have practical skills in instrument handling and experience working in a sterilization center within human healthcare or at an animal hospital. You express yourself well in Swedish both verbally and in writing.

You are communicative and have good social skills to meet colleagues and solve daily situations and tasks. Your approach is scientific with an interest in evidence-based care. As a person, you are meticulous, have a holistic view, and an eye for workflows. You are proactive, self-driven, flexible, and can handle periods of high workload as UDS is an emergency animal hospital with a dynamic everyday life and high patient flow. We will place great emphasis on your personal abilities.

About us

The Department of Clinical Sciences is responsible for undergraduate education, research, and doctoral education in anesthesiology, imaging diagnostics, animal care, epidemiology, laboratory animal science, surgery, clinical chemistry, medicine, and reproduction. Our activities span all animal species.

At SLU University Animal Hospital (UDS), education, research, and advanced veterinary care go hand in hand. We train tomorrow's veterinarians and veterinary nurses and provide first-class care for companion animals, competition animals, and production animals. We also disseminate knowledge to the public. By combining established knowledge with the latest research results, we develop the future of veterinary care.

Under one roof, we offer healthcare for horses, dogs, cats, and other small animals. In addition to modern operationally adapted facilities, we have access to advanced imaging diagnostics and a veterinary medical specialist laboratory. UDS also includes an ambulatory unit that goes out to stables and farms to examine and treat horses and livestock.
