Promega Biotech AB is seeking a highly qualified Technical Services & Instrumentation Support Manager to lead advanced scientific and technical support for our instrumentation and life science application portfolio across the Nordic region.

This senior professional role combines expert-level scientific consultancy, complex instrumentation troubleshooting, workflow automation and regional service coordination. The successful candidate will act as a recognised technical authority within the region, delivering structured, data-driven solutions across multidisciplinary environments spanning biology, engineering, automation systems and cloud-based digital workflows.

The position is based in Sweden and is open to applicants from Sweden, the EU/EEA and Switzerland.

Scope of Responsibility

Geographic coverage: Nordic region (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Estonia)

Advanced Scientific Consultancy & Automation Expertise

  • Serve as regional subject-matter expert in molecular biology, cell biology, bioassays and automated nucleic acid purification workflows.
  • Provide advanced consultancy across both benchtop automated platforms and integrated liquid handling workflows within research and diagnostic laboratory environments.
  • Interpret complex biological and instrument-generated datasets to diagnose system-level performance issues and identify optimisation opportunities.
  • Lead protocol optimisation initiatives to improve assay robustness, automation reliability and workflow scalability.
  • Apply structured root-cause analysis across integrated biological, mechanical, electrical and software systems.
  • Analyse and resolve complex interactions between instrumentation hardware, automation software and biological assay chemistry.
  • Translate complex technical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for customers, sales teams and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute scientific and systems-level insight to cross-functional teams including Sales, Engineering, Logistics and Global Technical Services.

Instrumentation & Technical Authority

  • Act as the regional technical authority for automated instrumentation platforms and associated reagent workflows.
  • Execute and coordinate installation, qualification, preventive maintenance, calibration and advanced troubleshooting activities.
  • Lead resolution of high-priority technical escalations requiring cross-functional collaboration and analytical decision-making.
  • Support optimisation of digital service processes and knowledge systems to enhance regional technical capability.

Digital Workflow & Systems Integration

  • Contribute to development and optimisation of cloud-based automation workflows supporting technical service and instrumentation processes.
  • Leverage data interrogation and business intelligence tools to analyse service performance, escalation trends and workflow efficiency.
  • Support integration of enterprise CRM and ERP systems to ensure accurate documentation, compliance and process visibility.
  • Apply structured analytical approaches to improve service scalability and technical decision-making.

Regional Service & Operational Coordination

  • Coordinate service planning, scheduling and technical resource alignment across the Nordic region.
  • Ensure documentation accuracy, regulatory compliance and quality standards within service and CRM systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement in service efficiency, knowledge sharing and technical capability development.

Commercial & Customer Engagement

  • Provide high-level technical consultation in support of instrumentation positioning, workflow design and integrated solution development.
  • Deliver advanced training, demonstrations and structured user support to customers and distribution partners.
  • Build long-term technical partnerships through credibility, expertise and consistent follow-up.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in life sciences, molecular biology, cell biology or a closely related scientific discipline, or equivalent advanced research training.
  • Strong theoretical and practical expertise in molecular workflows, automated laboratory systems and experimental design.
  • Demonstrated experience in complex dataset analysis, scientific data interpretation and protocol optimisation within automated laboratory environments.

Technical & Operational Expertise

  • 5+ Years of work in a commercial biotechnology company is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to resolve advanced integrated biological, mechanical, electrical and software challenges independently.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting benchtop and liquid handling automation systems.
  • Experience managing complex technical caseloads with structured prioritisation and escalation handling.
  • Strong analytical decision-making capability within high-responsibility environments.
  • Experience with enterprise CRM and ERP platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP and Microsoft 365 environments, or equivalent cloud-based systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based workflow automation tools and business intelligence platforms is advantageous.
  • Valid driver’s licence (B).

  • Ability to operate effectively across geographically distributed markets.

Employment Conditions

  • Full-time permanent employment.
  • Location: Nacka, Sweden, with potential hybrid working options available.
  • Travel within the Nordic region and Estonia required.
  • Salary and employment conditions in line with Swedish collective agreements and industry standards.
  • Occupational pension (tjänstepension), occupational injury insurance (arbetsskadeförsäkring), group life insurance (tjänstegrupplivförsäkring) and health insurance apply from the first day of employment.
  • Overtime, when required, shall be compensated with time off in lieu in accordance with applicable Swedish law and industry standards.
  • Annual paid vacation of 33 days.
  • Start date: To be agreed with the successful candidate.
