Do you want meaningful work that makes a difference in people's lives? Welcome to the municipality that is far from average!

Botkyrka Municipality is the sixth largest municipality in Stockholm County and consists of the districts of Alby, Fittja, Hallunda, Norsborg, Tullinge, Tumba, Vårsta, and Grödinge. Botkyrka Municipality has approximately 95,000 inhabitants and over 6,400 employees.

The Community Planning Department manages and develops both urban and rural areas within the municipality. We have the overall responsibility for planning and creating the physical, legal, and business conditions for a safe and good living environment in Botkyrka. Our 125 employees work to enable good housing and an attractive local environment regardless of where in life one finds oneself.

The Position and Responsibilities

Do you want to contribute to a safe and sustainable environment for both today's and future residents of Botkyrka? We are now looking for an environmental inspector with a focus on environmental protection for a permanent position.

As an environmental inspector with us, you contribute to a safe and sustainable environment for both today's and future residents.

In the role of environmental inspector with a focus on environmental protection, you will work with supervision and assessment according to the Environmental Code and other related legislation. The position is particularly focused on the supervision of waste and mass management, but other supervisory tasks are also included in the assignment.

You will independently review operations in the municipality and then assess how these operations may affect people's health and the environment. You will plan, prioritize, and drive your cases independently, follow up on supervision and assessment assignments, and document and make decisions within given timeframes. An important part of your assignment is to support and guide companies and organizations through clear communication to create long-term improvements. Your work will also involve driving improvements in the environmental unit's routines and working methods.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Planning and executing supervision in accordance with established planning,
  • Handling cases efficiently in close contact with companies and individuals,
  • Developing routines and working methods within the environmental unit's area of operations,
  • Collaborating with your colleagues to ensure quality, legal security, and efficiency,
  • Cooperating with other authorities and municipal residents.

Through your work, you directly contribute to a safe and sustainable environment where both residents and businesses can develop and operate in a safe and sustainable manner.

We Offer You

With us, you will become part of the environmental unit, which consists of twenty-four employees in environmental protection, health protection, and food safety, including three team leaders and one unit manager. We are a well-established and committed unit that combines broad expertise with a high level of service. The unit also has environmental legal expertise to support daily work. This position is part of the environmental protection team, which consists of one team leader and seven environmental inspectors. We offer a modern and digital workplace where you can plan your work independently while also receiving support from colleagues.

You will have the opportunity to influence the operations regarding planning and implementation. You will be responsible for driving the unit's and team's various development commitments. We continuously work on competence development based on employees' needs, with both internal and external training that strengthens your professional competence. We offer flexible working hours, and you can work partially remotely. Our office is centrally located in Tumba with good transportation links.

Who You Are

You have an academic degree in environmental and health protection, environmental science, or another similar education that the employer deems equivalent.

Other Requirements for the Position:

  • Experience working with supervision of waste, mass management, or contaminated areas.
  • Experience and a very good ability to communicate in Swedish, both spoken and written, to provide clear information to companies and citizens, to document cases, and to contribute to the development of our routines and working methods.
  • A valid B driver's license, as you will be actively moving throughout Botkyrka Municipality and using a car regularly for work.
  • You have good computer skills.

We consider it an advantage if you have:

  • Experience with the Ecos management system.

As an environmental inspector, you use your attentiveness and respectful approach when meeting companies, individuals, and operations, for example during inspections or handling complaints and reports. This creates trusting relationships and facilitates dialogue. Your ability to collaborate will be beneficial when you conduct inspections with colleagues, share information with other authorities, and participate in the municipality's work for a safe and sustainable environment.

You work independently and systematically when planning, executing, and following up on supervision and assessment assignments. You are solution-oriented when assessing how operations affect people's health and the environment, providing guidance to businesses, and contributing to the development of the unit's routines and working methods for long-term sustainable environmental protection.

Welcome with your application. You do not need to attach a personal letter or photograph to your application.
