Summer Interns for Laboratory in Huddinge and Solna

In preparation for summer 2026, we need support in our laboratory to provide the best care.

We are therefore looking for summer interns for our operations in Huddinge and Solna.

Are you a licensed biomedical analyst or are you at the beginning of your education? Do you want to work in a highly specialized laboratory and gain valuable experience? Then you might be the one we are looking for!

About the Position

Clinical microbiology is a laboratory within Medical Diagnostics Karolinska (MDK) that has operations in both Huddinge and Solna. The main tasks of the microbiologist are to diagnose infections caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites.

With us, you will be part of a team with high competence and good cohesion where everyone supports each other and participates in the daily diagnostic work in the bacteriological or virological laboratory. Positions are available in both the bacteriology and virology departments, in both Huddinge and Solna. The bacteriological diagnostics include both manual and automated cultivation of patient samples, as well as species and resistance determination. One of Sweden's most advanced and automated analysis systems for bacterial cultivation is used here. The virological diagnostics include serological and molecular biological methods.

The operation encompasses a wide range of analyses for patient samples, most of which are performed on high-tech instruments. Since our operation is accredited, we have a strong focus on quality with the patient in focus.

Evening/weekend shifts may be included.

We are looking for someone who

  • has a strong interest in working with microbiological diagnostics
  • can work independently in a structured manner and has the ability to prioritize in stressful situations
  • has good collaboration skills and contributes to a positive work environment
  • is proactive, takes responsibility, and has the ability to see the big picture
  • is meticulous and well aware of goals and quality standards and places great importance on meeting them.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Licensed biomedical analyst, or studying to become a biomedical analyst and has completed at least semester 2 or has equivalent experience from another education with a focus on laboratory sciences.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, level C

Meritorious:

  • Experience from previous laboratory work
  • Good computer skills

A high availability increases the chances of employment and it is desirable that you can work at least 10 weeks during June-August.
