Do you want to contribute to protecting drinking water in the Stockholm County? Here is an exciting job that involves handling cases regarding the establishment of water protection areas - all to ensure a secure supply of drinking water in our region.

With us, you will work centrally in Stockholm, with the pulse of Kungsgatan outside the door.

What does the role include?

We are now looking for a successor to one of our employees who has held the position of environmental officer within water protection. The role includes, among other things, processing dispensations, permit cases, and applications for the establishment of water protection areas. You will handle supervision cases related to complaints, accidents, and discharges, as well as monitor and write statements in environmental assessment cases when establishing in water protection areas. You will respond to internal referrals for planning cases and appeals, follow up on the regional water supply plan, and conduct supervision/inspections of established regulations. You will also provide supervisory guidance to municipalities.

We are constantly working on developing our working methods, and we see that you will contribute to this as well.

Are you the one we are looking for?

For this role, you need to have:

  • a relevant degree at the university level, such as hydrogeologist, geologist, hydrologist, biologist, environmental and health protection, engineer, or another degree deemed suitable by the employer,
  • experience in applying and knowledge of the Environmental Code,
  • experience working with water issues, e.g., drinking water, water protection, or water extraction,
  • very good ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both spoken and written.

You are used to and enjoy working both independently and collaboratively in a group, which means you have a good ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize your tasks based on given frameworks and guidelines. It is an advantage if you have:

  • experience in applying the Environmental Code from an authority perspective,
  • experience in drinking water treatment and supply,
  • a driver's license, class B.

More about us and the role

This is a permanent position at the Unit for Land and Water Protection, whose mission is assessment, supervision, and supervisory guidance within water activities, water protection areas, and contaminated areas.

We who work with water protection are a group of four colleagues with broad expertise. In the unit, we are about 28 employees.

We have an open work climate that allows us to work both individually and collectively, but always with the opportunity for discussions and check-ins. We have access to internal support within all areas of the County Administrative Board, including legal support.

As a permanent employee at the County Administrative Board in Stockholm County, you will be assigned based on the needs of total defense.
