Zoological Institution at Stockholm University

The Zoological Institution is one of the oldest institutions at Stockholm University and has a long history of fundamental and applied animal research, from invertebrates to large mammals.

The institution constitutes a dynamic research environment and consists of approximately 80 employees, including professors, researchers, PhD students, and administrative staff. There are several research groups working on evolution and behavior, as well as population genetics and evolutionary genomics. Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a laboratory technician who will work in shared laboratories on research involving tropical fish, funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, the Swedish Research Council, and the European Research Council (ERC). Responsibilities include providing technical support for laboratory work in research projects, managing daily operations in the laboratories, and ensuring overall safety in the laboratories. Support for ongoing projects includes coordinating laboratory work and animal care, practical animal husbandry, maintaining selection lines of guppy (Poecilia reticulata), and training students and new staff in the laboratories.

Qualifications

Master's degree in biology or equivalent knowledge deemed relevant by the employer. Experience in laboratory work with fish and laboratory maintenance is required. You should have documented experience in laboratory methods and maintenance of fish laboratories. You should possess good collaboration skills, organizational abilities, and be able to take initiative. You also have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing, both in Swedish and English. In the recruitment process, we will place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

About the Position

The position is full-time and temporary for six months. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date as soon as possible.
