Postdoctoral Researcher in Quantum Gravity

Project Description

The candidate will work on a project aimed at understanding quantum gravity, with a particular focus on understanding the quantum aspects of de Sitter spacetime. The candidate is expected to conduct research and publish results at conferences and in leading scientific journals, as well as contribute to the group's administration and supervise students in research projects.

Responsibilities

The position involves conducting research and performing other tasks in accordance with the research group's themes under the guidance of the principal investigator (PI).

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for a postdoctoral position, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a relevant PhD is required. The degree must be obtained no later than when the employment decision is made.

Assessment Criteria

It is advantageous if the PhD or equivalent has been obtained no more than three years before the application deadline. If there are special reasons, an earlier obtained degree may also be considered advantageous. Special reasons include leave due to illness, parental leave, union duties, service in the total defense, or other similar circumstances, as well as clinical service or relevant service/assignments in the subject area.

In the appointment process, particular emphasis will be placed on candidates with a strong background in quantum gravity and holography. Documented experience in the following areas is highly meritorious: studies of observables and entanglement in de Sitter spacetime, work with solutions within the framework of brane-world holography (AdS/BCFT), studies of the “island formula,” and calculation and interpretation of quantum corrections to the Raychaudhuri equations.

About the Position

The position is full-time and is permanent, but for at least two years and at most three years, with the possibility of extension if there are special reasons. Start date is September 2026 or as agreed.
