About the Position

As an employee of the Swedish Armed Forces, you contribute to Sweden's defense capability. In the current security political situation, the government has decided to strengthen military capability. This means that the Armed Forces and the Life Guards are growing. The Armed Forces has an organization to meet overseas veterans and their relatives. The Armed Forces Veterans Center is the authority's competence center that provides professional support and guidance in veteran and relative issues throughout the entire deployment cycle. The Life Guards are now recruiting veteran and relative coordinators, who have an important role to fill in this work. It is this position that primarily informs, guides, follows up, and supports overseas veterans and their relatives.

As a veteran and relative coordinator at the Life Guards, you belong to the HR department of the Regiment Staff, where 13 people with different competencies and areas of work currently work. About 65 people work in the Regiment Staff, of various ages and with different specialist competencies, both military personnel and civilian employees. The Regiment Staff is tasked with supporting the commander of the Life Guards in his leadership of the regiment. The Life Guards is one of Sweden's largest regiments, and our operations have a wide range, from security service to ceremonial service.

Main Responsibilities

As a veteran and relative coordinator, you are the cohesive force for the Life Guards' work in veteran and relative issues. You are the contact person for veterans and their relatives, informing them about the Armed Forces' follow-up responsibilities, guiding them, and providing initial conversation support before, during, and after deployment. As a veteran and relative coordinator, you plan and conduct follow-ups after deployments and administer veteran card applications. You collaborate with the volunteer organizations that work with veteran and relative issues and are part of the Veterans Center's network. The work involves regular travel and overnight stays in other locations. Additionally, you may also work with other tasks that arise in the HR department.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a field deemed relevant by the employer for the position
  • Documented experience in supportive and guiding conversations
  • Documented experience in coordination, planning, and execution of projects/events for larger groups
  • Driver's license B

Personal Qualities

As a veteran and relative coordinator, you should enjoy and be skilled at working independently and want to develop the area of work you are responsible for. You are proactive and curious, and have a social aptitude that you readily utilize in meeting different people. It is important that you are attentive, trustworthy, and have excellent collaboration skills. You are accustomed to and enjoy structure, planning, and coordination. You are flexible regarding changes in pace, as there are peaks in workload directly related to, during, and after a deployment.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Meritorious Qualifications

  • Experience working with veterans/veteran issues
  • Completed military basic training
  • Experience in conversations with people in crisis
  • Completed international military deployment

Other

Employment form: permanent civil employment. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those who are not employed by the authority.

Employment rate: full-time

Work location: Kungsängen

Salary: individual salary setting

Business trips occur, both in Sweden and abroad

The Life Guards is one of the largest units in the Armed Forces with roots dating back to 1521. We train tomorrow's soldiers, as well as military police and personnel who will carry out international missions. We guard the royal palaces, we have security and ground combat units. We are also responsible for preserving and developing the Swedish military music tradition. Our headquarters is in Kungsängen outside Stockholm, but we are also located in Sollentuna, central Stockholm, Uppsala, Gothenburg, and Karlskrona.

An employment with us means placement in a security class. Usually, Swedish citizenship is required.
