Are you looking for a meaningful role where you can truly make a difference?

We are now looking for more engaged employees who want to help shape the future of Värnamo. With us, you work with people at the center and create a workday that is valuable, both for you and for our citizens.

Description

The Citizen Administration in Värnamo consists of 6 sections, where foster homes are part of the family law section GGVV and foster homes.

The section is led by a unit manager and consists of 20 employees, distributed among the foster home group, family law GGVV (Gislaved, Gnosjö, Vaggeryd, and Värnamo), and an internal consultant.

The foster home group consists of 10 social workers (4 foster home social workers, 5 child follow-up workers, and 1 position that is a combined foster home social worker and child follow-up worker) and 1 group leader. We are now looking for a new colleague who is interested in working as a child follow-up worker.

Job Responsibilities

We are now looking for a social worker for the foster home group with responsibility for following up on children and youth placed in foster homes.

When a child is placed outside their home, the entire situation changes – and that’s when secure social workers are needed to hold the effort together. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing decisions regarding placement in foster care and continuously following up on the care. You will maintain the overall picture around the child or youth and work both with what happens here and now and what requires more long-term planning. The work involves close collaboration with foster home social workers and other key actors (school, healthcare, etc.) to ensure that the child's needs are met and that the placement works as safely and sustainably as possible. Since placements can be both within and outside the municipality, you will travel as part of your job. In many situations, you will meet children, youth, and their networks in both everyday and more challenging moments, and you will contribute with a calm and professional approach. It is a job where you really get to use all your skills – and where your commitment makes a concrete difference for children and youth. In the role of social worker, it is especially important to build good and long-term relationships with the children and youth who are placed, and your responsibility will be to monitor, support, and follow the youth's needs.

Within the Citizen Administration, we work based on the Signs of Safety approach, which is partly based on our children and youth maintaining as much contact as possible with their biological network, where possible. In your role, this means you will work with the child/youth's biological parents and the surrounding network. There is a close collaboration between the social worker and the foster home social worker regarding the placed child. It also includes internal collaboration within the Citizen Administration but also externally with, for example, schools and healthcare.

Your closest colleagues, whom you will work closely with, are the foster home social workers who are responsible for recruiting, investigating, and guiding foster homes and emergency homes. The foster home social workers are also responsible for investigating contact persons and contact families.

The work includes ongoing documentation.

You will be welcomed into a workgroup with colleagues who have many years of experience, a big heart for the target group, work solution-focused, and are good at collaborating both internally and externally.

The employer offers external supervision, a developed introduction program, training in Signs of Safety, ongoing professional development, and wellness benefits.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work. You should have experience in the social services' authority exercise, preferably directed towards children/youth. You have a good understanding of the social services' mission and current legislation. You should have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, good computer and documentation/investigation skills. It is an advantage if you have experience in foster home work. We place great importance on your personal suitability in terms of collaboration skills, commitment, organization, and interest in developing the operations.

Conditions

Interviews may take place continuously during the advertisement period.

As you will be working with children and youth, we would like you to submit an extract from the criminal record before employment. The form for requesting an extract from the criminal record can be found at https://polisen.se/tjanster-tillstand/belastningsregistret/ (https://polisen.se/tjanster-tillstand/belastningsregistret/).

A driver's license is a requirement.

Probationary employment may be applied.
