About the job

The section for registration and records, the unit for safe staffing and records, is looking for a lawyer who enjoys decision-making in a varied everyday life with a high pace and focus on the shipping and aviation industries. Here you will have close internal collaboration and extensive external contacts with a wide customer base. Your focus will be on registration issues from a business and private law perspective combined with registration law. The work is mainly carried out at our office in Norrköping.

You will

  • apply laws and regulations within maritime law, aviation law, civil law, registration law, administrative law, etc.
  • prepare and make decisions on applications for registration and deregistration of ships and aircraft, ownership, mortgages, etc.
  • conduct legal investigations
  • have extensive contacts with owners, shipowners, holders/operators, banks, law firms, brokers, and others with interests related to ships and aircraft
  • contribute to the development of the business for a more digital future.

You must have

  • a law degree or equivalent
  • at least 3 years of relevant experience in qualified legal work within government, court, law firm, or private sector
  • very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

It is an advantage if you also have

  • current experience in business law
  • experience in maritime or aviation law or education in these areas
  • judicial clerkship.

The employment is permanent with placement in Norrköping. We would like you to start on September 1, 2026, or by agreement. We usually apply a probationary period. An employment with us may involve placement in a security class. A security review with background checks according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted. For some of our tasks in security class, Swedish citizenship is required.

Number of employees: Approximately 2000.

Areas of operation: Transportstyrelsen works to achieve good accessibility, high quality, safe, and environmentally friendly transport within rail, aviation, shipping, and road. We develop regulations, issue permits, and monitor compliance. With the help of our registers, we work with fees, permits, and ownership transfers.

Locations: We have employees in 12 locations across the country. The largest part of the operations is in Borlänge, Norrköping, and Örebro.

About the Maritime and Aviation Department

The Maritime and Aviation Department contributes to a competitive, environmentally friendly, and safe transport system. We do this by maintaining registers, formulating regulations, assessing and issuing permits, and exercising supervision. We also operate in many contexts on the international stage.

We are located in Norrköping, Gothenburg, Malmö, and Stockholm and have about 300 employees organized into six units and a staff unit.
