Fuel Inspector at the Security Inspection Authority

About the Security Inspection Authority

The Security Inspection Authority (SÄKINSP) operates directly under the leadership of the Armed Forces and consists of the departments of land security inspection (MARKI) and maritime security inspection (SJÖI). MARKI conducts supervision and inspections and provides support within the framework of the Armed Forces' operational security. Our office is located near Gärdet in Stockholm. The position is directly subordinate to the head of MARKI and supports this. The position comprises 30% coordination/development and 70% inspectorate activities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the activities of the inspection section
  • Follow up, analyze, and, in collaboration with C MARKI, plan the section's activities
  • Develop the section's tasks, work, and management methods
  • Be responsible for compiling material for the Annual Report and coordinating comments related to both the ammunition and fuel areas
  • Report back on the status and need for corrective actions
  • In the absence of C MARKI, administer travel orders, working time reporting, sick leave, and leave management
  • Be responsible for compiling permits according to LBE

As a Fuel Inspector:

  • In consultation with the Civil Defense Agency, conduct and follow up on supervision according to the law on the handling of flammable goods at the Armed Forces (FM), the Defense Materiel Administration (FMV), the Total Defense Research Institute (FOI), the National Defense Radio Establishment (FRA), and the Fortifications Agency (FortV)
  • Conduct inspections of fuel installations authorized by the Civil Defense Agency and according to FM internal regulations
  • Provide support on the application of the law on flammable and explosive goods (LBE) to the central functions of the Defense Authorities, including interpretation of regulations, permit matters, inspections, planning, and constructions
  • Provide consultations on permit applications according to LBE and FM internal regulations
  • Sign consultations with permit holders when appointing managers according to LBE
  • Support C SÄKINSP in the development of regulations (FFS)
  • Support in the development of common FM regulations and publications
  • Provide support within the subject area for example MARKI system safety approvals
  • Participate as a teacher in training and be responsible for theme days within the subject area
  • Participate in working groups and activities within the subject area in international organizations
  • Participate in meetings within the subject area internally at FM as well as with other defense authorities

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Swedish citizenship
  • Experience in a position as an inspector according to LBE (several years of experience required)
  • At least 5 years of experience in a central position requiring good knowledge of the application of LBE, its regulations (FBE), and associated regulations as well as the Armed Forces' regulations (BVKF)
  • Good knowledge of FM and related authorities (FMV, FortV, FOI, FRA, Civil Defense Agency) organization and tasks
  • Good ability in spoken and written Swedish and English
  • Good knowledge of Office applications
  • Driving license B (manual)

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone who has the ability to lead, plan, and work independently, good collaboration skills with others, and the ability to contribute to the development of the section. The position requires a good ability to make objective assessments and judgments. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

DESIRABLE

  • Good knowledge and experience of fuel systems including tanks and pipelines
  • Experience in permit processing regarding flammable goods
  • Experience as a lecturer and planning, conducting, and developing training in the specialized area
  • Familiarity with the application of regulations for handling flammable goods in field handling (operations and exercises) as well as international missions
  • Experience of service in a staff position
  • Knowledge and experience of working in FM administrative systems such as PRIO, VIDAR, and ISUS
  • Familiarity with NATO's organization, governance, and operations
  • Military training/experience

Other

The place of work is negotiable and placement is possible at locations where the Armed Forces have operational activities, primarily garrison locations. Frequent travel to HQ, Stockholm. The position involves extensive travel both within Sweden and abroad to operational areas and international meetings.
