About us

The Infectious Diseases and Lung Clinic is a regional clinic with over 100 employees. We operate in the fields of infectious diseases, lung diseases, and specialized adult allergy. All employees are located at Mälarsjukhuset, but the regional assignment ensures high availability for consultations from medical colleagues throughout the region. We provide inpatient care in the infectious and lung department. The clinic has three outpatient services: the infectious diseases clinic, the lung and allergy clinic, and the diagnostic center. Needle exchange services and the infection tracing unit are also available at our clinic.

Your responsibilities

As a resident physician at the infectious diseases clinic, you will work alternately in inpatient and outpatient care. In the infectious department, you will investigate and treat patients primarily with acute infectious conditions. At the infectious diseases clinic, you will work in the day shift with acute infections and in the scheduled clinic with investigative cases and chronic infections. Consultation work is a significant part of our operations, and you will spend a lot of time on telephone consultations. As a resident physician, you will handle telephone consultations, for example, as an on-call doctor at Mälarsjukhuset. We also conduct on-site consultations at the regional hospitals in Nyköping and Katrineholm a few days a week, and as a resident physician, you will accompany an infectious disease specialist there occasionally. We conduct antibiotic rounds in several departments across three hospitals in the region. On-call duties during evenings/nights and weekends are included in the position.

Your qualifications

We are looking for someone with an interest in infectious diseases. You must hold a Swedish medical license and have good knowledge of the Swedish language (equivalent to Swedish C1). Experience working in an infectious diseases clinic is an advantage.

We place great emphasis on personal qualities. Our operations are largely acute, and you need to be confident and stable in your personality. The acute nature of the work also requires you to be flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances. You should have a structured work approach, be accustomed to taking responsibility, and be able to collaborate easily with others both within and outside your own clinic.
