Research Assistant in Health Economics

The Department of Medicine, Division of Community Medicine and Public Health, conducts extensive teaching and research in health economics, epidemiological methodology, global public health science, and pharmaceutical policy.
The position is placed within the Health Economics, Policy, and Evaluation (HEPER) group, a research environment with researchers in health economics and epidemiological methods, supported by multiple external research grants from funders such as Forte, the Cancer Foundation, the Swedish Research Council, the Heart-Lung Foundation, and NordForsk. The research assistant will work with methods and applied studies in health economic evaluation and health economic policy. The work is based on the analysis of large registry data as well as modeling and simulation studies.
Job Responsibilities
As a research assistant, you will work alongside Professor Mikael Svensson in health economic research projects focusing on modeling cost-effectiveness and evaluating the effects of interventions in healthcare.
The job responsibilities include, among other things:
- development, coding, and documentation of health economic evaluation models (e.g., cost-effectiveness models)
- statistical and econometric analysis of registry data
- data processing, quality assurance, and reproducible code
- participation in manuscript work (scientific articles and reports)
- participation in the research environment's work with applications for research funding
Qualifications
Requirements:
- bachelor's degree in economics, health economics, public health science, biostatistics, or a related field
- very good knowledge of English, both spoken and written
Preferred:
- master's degree (or a degree expected to be completed by summer 2026) in health economics, economics, public health, global health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related field
- experience with Stata and/or R
- experience in health economic cost-effectiveness analyses, modeling, and/or working with registry data
- knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written

Employment
Employment type: Fixed-term employment, 11 months.
Scope: 100%, full-time.
Location: Department of Medicine, Gothenburg.
Start date: 2026-08-01 or by agreement.
