At our reception on Drottninggatan, individuals with psychotic disorders are assessed and treated. We work according to the Flexible Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) method, which means we operate with high flexibility and availability, with most visits taking place outside the reception. The foundation of our approach is a recovery-oriented perspective. The team works integratively and consists of employees from both Region Skåne and Malmö City. At the reception, which consists of four teams, there are caregivers/nursing assistants, nurses, housing pedagogues, work specialists, doctors, peer supports, psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, medical secretaries, and unit managers.

We are transitioning to the title of nursing assistant and will gradually phase out the title of caregiver across all our psychiatric services. This work started on November 1, 2023. The change in title will not alter the need for specialist competence in psychiatry. Specialist competence remains very important and will continue to be developed. Within the administration, work has begun to review what is needed for continued professional development, increased professional knowledge, and development opportunities related to patient work.

We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant and has applied for/received proof of protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We now welcome a nursing assistant in psychiatry to join us at the Adult Psychiatric Reception for Psychosis on Drottninggatan in Malmö for a fixed-term employment of one year starting May 1, 2026.

With us, you will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of tasks in a reception with high competence and great commitment to those we meet. As a nursing assistant, you will work in a cross-professional team close to the patient/participant and participate in routines that include care, conversations, and other support for those we meet. In your role as a nursing assistant, you will also be a primary care contact for some of the team’s patients. This means that you will be the patient’s/participant’s closest contact at the reception, where you, together with the participant/patient and the rest of the team, will design care and support. Assessment of health status and needs for interventions will be continuously made by you and in consultation with doctors and other team members. Another important part of the work consists of regular collaboration with other services, including with the municipality through coordinated individual plans (SIP). Your work will take place both in the patient’s/participant’s home environment, outdoors, and at the reception.

The position is located in the Inner City team.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant. This means you have a recognized upper secondary education in health and care (2500 points), a recognized health and care education via adult education (minimum 1350 points), or another equivalent nursing assistant education. Since the work largely involves communication and documentation, good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written, are a requirement. We also prefer that you have a B driver's license and are accustomed to cycling, as this facilitates the work.

It is meritorious if you have experience working in psychiatry or with patients with mental health issues. A strong interest in working with individuals with psychotic disorders is a prerequisite for the position. Additionally, good computer skills and basic computer knowledge are advantageous.

You have a genuine interest in psychiatric care and always put the patient/participant in focus. Furthermore, you have good prioritization skills and actively contribute to a good working environment. It is important that you can maintain a low-arousal response in stressful and anxious situations, which is why we are looking for someone who is calm and stable in their person. With a high sense of service and responsibility and good collaboration skills, you respectfully meet the various situations that may arise. You enjoy and are confident in mentoring students. We are keen to find the right person for the position and therefore place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Please attach your nursing assistant certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare if you have received it or your diploma with your application. If you have not yet received the certificate, you will be given the title of care assistant in psychiatry in the meantime. If you were permanently employed as a nursing assistant on July 1, 2023, please submit a certificate that verifies this.

OTHER

As of July 1, 2023, the title of nursing assistant became a protected professional title. This means that you will need proof from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title of nursing assistant in health and care. If you currently have a permanent position as a nursing assistant and are offered a new position, you can retain your title of nursing assistant until June 30, 2033. At any interview/employment, you will need to present proof of protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare or a certificate that you were permanently employed as a nursing assistant on July 1, 2023. If you do not currently have a professional certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare or are covered by transitional provisions, this means that the title in your employment contract will be care assistant and not nursing assistant.
