Tester at the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.
Do you want to help contribute to a safer society? Our IT department is undertaking a major initiative focused on a digital Prison and Probation Service. Together, we work to create conditions and solutions that make a difference in our operations. The IT department is in a strong growth phase. With us, you have good opportunities to grow and develop your skills based on your conditions and areas of interest. We are looking for someone with a strong interest in IT, knowledge that can enrich our digitalization journey, and who wants to make a difference in society within your profession.
RESPONSIBILITIES
We currently have five system development teams working on the development and maintenance of KVR (Prison and Probation Register), which is the system support for the administration of client information. KVR has a large number of unique users per day and is the most used system support in the daily operations of the Prison and Probation Service. The IT department is in an expansive phase, and we want to expand our expertise in the testing area.
As a tester within the Prison and Probation Service, you will belong to a development team that works on new development and maintenance of IT components in KVR or similar applications within application development. These IT components support various processes within both detention centers, prisons, and probation. As a tester in one of our development teams, you will work daily with your team colleagues who are System Developers, System Architects, Requirements Analysts, UX Designers, and Scrum Masters.
You will also work closely with other colleagues in the same role to strengthen, streamline, and develop the testing work within the authority. There are great opportunities to influence and drive the development of our working methods in the testing area forward.
We continuously work to improve our working methods with the aim of working agilely in both planning, development, and follow-up. We strive to work closely with both business experts and end-users to create solutions that meet both regular requirements and the end-user's needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who is goal-oriented and results-driven and who, through your engagement, contributes to and uplifts the team. You are self-driven, take responsibility for your tasks, and see opportunities in changes. With your initiative, you drive the work forward and initiate activities that create results.
For us, it is important that you share the fundamental values of the Prison and Probation Service regarding a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in the human will and ability to develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We are looking for someone who has:
- An academic degree in a relevant field such as computer science, engineering, or similar, or you have other education combined with experience that the Prison and Probation Service deems relevant
- Relevant work experience in testing in the last 3 years or a relevant degree completed no later than 1 year ago
- Experience working as a tester in a development team
- Experience with agile work
- Knowledge of various testing methods and their application
- Ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish
It is advantageous if you have:
- Training in the form of courses or certifications in automated testing
- Experience in automation within the testing area

- Experience in consciously and methodically switching between manual and automated testing depending on the situation
- Understanding of programming and the ability to read code
