Job Responsibilities

You will be part of a group of about 15 people working with the care and management of nature reserves. Your primary tasks will be to lead, plan, and implement action work based on applicable management plans with the various restoration objects found in protected nature. Examples of actions include hydrological restoration, such as re-filling ditches in peat and forest land, restoring rich fens, clearing overgrowth, and excavating small water bodies, as well as managing wetland areas.

You will ensure that the actions are carried out by procuring suitable contractors. You will also be responsible for following up on the results of the restorations. Your tasks will also include preparing documents for notifications regarding water activities or application documents for court for work to be performed.

The work involves a lot of contact with contractors, animal keepers, landowners, and the public, as well as within the County Administrative Board and with other authorities/organizations and media. Occasionally, there may be demands for work beyond regular working hours.

Other tasks within the employer's area of activity may also occur, such as wetland coordination, processing LONA applications, or external communication.

Qualifications

You should have an academic degree in a relevant field such as biology, environmental science, ecology, conservation biology, agronomy, or other education that we consider equivalent.

Experience in wetland restoration work, particularly hydrological restoration, is considered especially meritorious for these positions. Experience in leading work with construction machinery (excavation, earthmoving, etc.) as well as good knowledge of the natural values and species of wetlands and management methods is also meritorious.

Experience in wetland coordination or legal expertise and knowledge of environmental impact assessments and permit assessments is also meritorious.

Previous experience in public administration, preferably in the administration and management of protected areas, procurement, as well as knowledge of GIS (ArcGIS) is desirable for this position.

As a person, you should have a good ability to solve problems, good administrative skills, and ease in establishing trusting contacts.
