Business Description

The Environmental, Building, and Rescue Administration is organizationally its own department where staff process building permits, conduct inspections according to, among other things, LBE and LSO, and work on issues within the areas of the Environmental Code and food legislation for the Environmental, Building, and Rescue Committee, which is the responsible committee. The Environmental Department, consisting of 9 inspectors and one administrator, handles issues regarding the Environmental Code, food, over-the-counter medicines, health protection, as well as alcohol and tobacco.

We are now looking for 2 environmental inspectors focusing on health protection and environmental protection.

Job Responsibilities

We offer you a stimulating and developing job with great personal responsibility and friendly colleagues. Both positions are focused on supervision and handling of cases within environmental protection and health protection. We make delegation decisions and prepare decision-making documents for the Environmental, Building, and Rescue Committee and provide information, guidance, and advice to both the public and businesses.

Qualifications

Education in the field of environmental and health protection or equivalent education, as well as a good understanding of working in a politically governed organization, is an advantage. You should be computer literate as most case management and follow-up occurs via various software programs. The position requires you to be meticulous and have an excellent ability to express yourself in Swedish, both verbally and in writing. A significant part of the work involves contacts and information to the public, making strong communication skills essential. We place great importance on your personal qualities.

To succeed in your role as an environmental inspector, you need to enjoy working both independently and in a team. You must be able to handle multiple cases simultaneously and be service- and development-oriented. You should have a good ability to plan and organize your work. Good judgment and decision-making ability are other important qualities in the role of inspector. You have a genuine interest in helping others and strive to deliver solutions. Personal suitability is highly valued. Under the framework of the national minority language law, the Municipality of Gällivare is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an asset when applying for a position in Gällivare municipality.

A valid driver's license (B) is required; the municipality has both a car and a bicycle available.
