About the job

As an Environmental Specialist with us, you will have the opportunity to work with various environmental issues related to the operation and maintenance of road and railway infrastructure. You are expected to find a balanced and pragmatic way to support our operational maintenance activities and our contractors in the short and long term across the environmental field. In your role, you will work with issues related to water activities, material handling, invasive species, species protection, protected areas/objects, and the management of various environmental risks in projects. You will work operationally in the field to support and assist the maintenance operations in complying with environmental regulations. You will work with environmental assurance, identify activities that require permits/applications/notifications, conduct environmental assessments, prepare documentation, participate in regulatory matters, review plans and other documents produced within projects, and ensure that environmental requirements are managed effectively. You may also work directly with our contractors to ensure proper environmental management in our contracts. Together with others in the team, you will also coordinate the need for consulting support regarding environmental expertise.

You are a key player in securing environmental issues in our maintenance operations for both road and railway.

You belong to the Quality and Safety section, whose mission is to support the operational activities within the northern region in matters concerning safety, risk, quality, and environment. The section currently consists of 12 employees, of which two are environmental specialists.

Your role also includes staying updated on new legislation and developments in the environmental field, responding to consultations, and educating and informing the region's employees on current environmental issues. You have great opportunities to learn from others and gain natural development in your daily work, especially since you work broadly with many different issues within the environmental field. Additionally, you create and maintain relationships with external parties within the relevant geography, such as suppliers, municipalities, and county administrative boards. Travel within the maintenance region is included in the position.
