AFRY delivers qualified environmental consulting services that help both private and public actors achieve their sustainability goals and meet environmental requirements. We also offer our environmental expertise to other business areas within AFRY.

As an environmental consultant at AFRY, your assignments will vary. While we currently see the main needs in the industrial and energy segments, you may also work on infrastructure projects related to railways and roads, municipal plans, or permits for water and environmentally hazardous activities. You will have the opportunity to participate in various assignments both locally, regionally, and nationally. With us, you will help develop innovative and sustainable solutions in infrastructure, energy, and industry. Within AFRY, there is an opportunity to participate in and drive technical issues nationally, where contaminated areas have their own technical area linked to universities and research.

The main focus of the operations in contaminated areas is project and fieldwork, as well as ongoing contact with clients and supervisory authorities. Examples of tasks and responsibilities included in the role of environmental consultant in contaminated areas are:

• Planning and conducting environmental technical soil investigations, risk assessments, and remediation studies together with project leaders
• Conducting fieldwork, both in soil, water, and buildings
• Acting as environmental support and environmental inspector during the remediation phase
• Managing ongoing contact with clients, supervisory authorities, and waste facilities
• Participating in construction and project meetings, both internally and externally
• Report writing and preparation of notification cases to supervisory authorities

Since a large part of the tasks is carried out in the form of outdoor fieldwork, we see that you enjoy being outdoors and combining practical work with theoretical.

Qualifications

To succeed and thrive in your role as an environmental and sustainability consultant, we are looking for someone who has:

• Post-secondary education, either vocational training or an academic degree in natural sciences/engineering with a completed degree in the environmental field or equivalent
• Very good collaboration skills and an interest in learning from others as well as contributing your experience
• An analytical and strategic mindset with a good ability to see opportunities and solutions that add value to our clients
• Very good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
• Driving license B

It is advantageous, but not a requirement, if you have:

• Experience in soil sampling as well as groundwater and surface water or SGF certification courses.
• Experience in, for example, the industrial or infrastructure sector, or regulatory issues related to contaminated areas from the municipal sector.
• Experience working with clients and other stakeholders to discuss and present assignments and provide recommendations
• Experience working as a project manager or assignment leader
