Field of Infectious Diseases
We are Uppsala University Hospital – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is celebrated as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (http://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!
Our Operations
In the infectious disease unit, adult patients with severe infections, infectious diseases, tropical medicine diseases, and immunodeficiency diseases are cared for. Infectious diseases have an interesting aspect in that we can follow the development through human history and its global connection, where you meet patients of different ages and life stages. We are an acute care department where all patients come in via the emergency department or the infectious disease clinic. Infectious disease care often involves solving puzzles in teams from a person-centered perspective.
We work in teams around the patient, and the department has several functions that support the work around the patient. On the department, there are nursing assistants, nurses, doctors, clinical pharmacists, department pharmacists, dietitians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, receptionists, staffing coordinators, educational nurses, nursing leaders, and quality coordinators.
Your Mission
As a nursing assistant, you are responsible for basic care together with a nursing assistant colleague and a nurse. Our patients have varying care needs that create a varying work pace with sometimes rapid changes in patients' conditions. No two days are alike here. The infectious disease department is in constant development, and we want you as an employee to actively participate in the development work of the operations so that severely ill patients can be cared for under good conditions in a department where the staff's work environment is in focus. We have close cooperation with our doctors who are available on the department throughout the day.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant. Previous experience in acute care is an advantage.
Your Competence
We are looking for someone who focuses on the patient and is responsible, motivated, and self-driven in your work. You take your own initiatives and drive your tasks forward in a structured way by planning, organizing, and prioritizing effectively. You are flexible and can easily adapt to changing conditions, where you see opportunities in change. We see you as an important person in our operations and value your contribution to a positive and safe work climate through good collaboration, where you are attentive and handle situations constructively. With your empathetic ability, you can put yourself in others' perspectives without taking over their feelings. If you are also curious, proactive, and willing to cooperate, this job is perfect for you.
We Offer
We offer a temporary position or permanent employment with a start date according to agreement. A probationary period may be applied. Working hours are scheduled for days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Well-structured introduction of 2-3 weeks consisting of both clinical and theoretical sessions tailored individually with our educational nurses.
- Healthy scheduling with a focus on recovery. For example, day shifts start at 07:30 in the morning and evening shifts end at 21:30.
- Training sessions occur regularly during the extended overlap time with others in the staff group.
