Finance or Business Economist at the Swedish Energy Agency

Do you want to make a real difference in keeping pace with electrification and the green transition? The Business Unit is now recruiting a finance or business economist who wants to work on initiatives that contribute to a more reliable, robust, and flexible energy system. We are looking for someone who wants to help develop new solutions to achieve energy and climate goals in Sweden and globally. Welcome to apply for an exciting and highly relevant workplace!

The Swedish Energy Agency works for a fossil-free and robust energy supply. Security of supply, competitiveness, and ecological sustainability are perspectives that need to be combined to secure the future energy system.

Your tasks – strengthening the electricity system through smart financing

You will primarily work with financing issues in the team working on the Kraftlyftet initiative. You will support the entire initiative, which is divided into two units. Kraftlyftet aims to strengthen the capabilities of the electricity system and can include both electricity production and measures at users that enhance the electricity system through efficient energy use. The initiative includes more than 5 billion SEK in investment support. Applications are assessed based on criteria, and the economy of the projects needs to be analyzed based on, among other things, EU state aid rules and the financial capacity of companies. Your role will be to review and assess the reasonableness of the financial documentation in project applications and how they relate to various regulations. We possess different competencies and work in teams with complex issues to interpret and implement regulations. The work includes preparing materials for decision-makers and presenting decisions together with colleagues. Contact with companies, colleagues at the agency, and other stakeholders is part of the job. We need to communicate complex issues about funding opportunities as simply and accurately as possible to societal actors. Collaboration with other authorities is a natural part of the work.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with an academic background in economics or equivalent that the Swedish Energy Agency deems relevant, preferably with a focus on financing or business economics. Furthermore, you have at least a couple of years of current and relevant work experience in the economic field. Basic knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping is a requirement. You have a good ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing, as well as good knowledge of modern IT systems and programs, such as experience with Power BI or similar BI tools.

It is advantageous if you have experience in financial analysis of operations, investment analysis, and monitoring of financial key figures in projects. If you also have experience in planning, analysis, review, and monitoring of larger investment projects within the industry, we consider that an advantage as well.

Personal qualities

To thrive and fit in this role, we believe you are curious with a strong analytical ability. You have good collaboration skills, are responsible, and solution-oriented. You are used to prioritizing and place great importance on maintaining high quality in what you deliver. You communicate in an open and attentive manner and have a good ability to weigh information and consider different perspectives. You enjoy improving routines and processes. Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. We look forward to meeting you with drive, commitment, and interest in the position!
