Your new workplace

The Culture and Leisure Administration is looking for a leisure leader for Bredsand Youth Center.

The position is a full-time employment with a workload of 100%, from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027. The Youth Department has the mission of Sundsvall Municipality to work with youth's cultural and leisure activities, which also includes being responsible for the municipality's youth centers. You will be part of a team with two other leisure leaders. Together, you will plan and implement activities at and outside the youth center for our target group aged 12-18. Two days a week, the youth center is also open for younger children in grades 4-6. Your contribution as a leisure leader

As a leisure leader, you play a crucial role in shaping the future of society by investing in youth and strengthening civic engagement from the ground up. By providing a platform for creativity, learning, and participation, you inspire young people to develop their full potential and become active participants in society. Being a leisure leader means being a mentor, a coach, and a role model, equipping young people with the tools to navigate life with confidence and respect for others. This work is not just about organizing activities, but about creating safe spaces where young people can grow, feel included, express themselves freely, and feel seen and heard. As a leisure leader, you are not just a guide for today's youth but an architect for tomorrow's society, and that is the most important and rewarding role one can have. The position primarily involves evening work, with some weekends and camp activities. Starting in the fall of 2026, Bredsand Youth Center will be open either Saturday or Sunday, which means more weekend work.

Your skills and experience

We are looking for someone with the following qualifications:

  • Leisure leader education or equivalent education.
  • Documented experience in youth work or engagement through interests or hobbies.
  • Good proficiency in using Office programs and digital tools.
  • Driver's license (B).
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in planning and implementation.
  • Ability to work systematically with follow-up, evaluation, and analysis of operations to drive continuous development.
  • Accountability for achieving set goals.

Personal qualities:

  • Secure and stable in your role, self-awareness, and ability to distinguish between personal and professional matters.
  • Good empathetic ability and the capacity to understand others' situations and perspectives.
  • Accommodating and responsive in your interactions.
  • Good collaboration skills and ease in working with both internal and external parties.
  • Willingness to resolve conflicts constructively.

Meritorious:

  • An interest in working from a health-promoting perspective, both in theory and practice.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions and situations.
  • Ability to deliver solutions and help others in an initiative-rich and efficient manner.
  • Have or have had engagement in youth activities through interests, hobbies, or volunteer work.
