The HVDC - High Voltage Direct Current technology has been on the market for the past 70+ years and is used, among other things, to transmit power over long distances and integrate renewables into the grid with minimal losses, using overhead lines, underground, and submarine cable systems.

In this role, you will be part of the MACH Control & Protection Platform R&D department that is responsible for the development of state-of-the-art control systems for HVDC and FACTS applications.

This role is based in Ludvika, Sweden.

How you’ll make an impact

  • You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of valve electronics products which constitute the heart of an HVDC – High Voltage Direct Current system. The work requires a deep understanding of analog and/or power electronics, both theoretical and practical tasks.
  • Requirement management, development of design specifications, and documentation are part of the work tasks as well.
  • You will have the responsibility to create robust designs within the cost and time limits with a product lifecycle management perspective.
  • We work in a modern environment where both rapid prototyping and productification take place. To our help, we have tools and labs for the complete electronic hardware development cycle, from early prototype testing to final system verification.
  • You will have responsibility for your design in all these steps.

Your background

  • Degree in electrical engineering, power electronics, or a related field; advanced degree is an advantage.
  • Strong experience in analog and/or power electronics hardware design.
  • Proven expertise in discrete analog design, including amplifiers, comparators, converters, and gate drivers.
  • Experience with high-voltage power supplies, mixed-signal circuits, and timing or clock distribution.
  • Solid understanding of thermal design, power and timing budgets, and reliability principles.
  • Hands-on experience with simulation, board bring-up, debugging, and laboratory measurements.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC, grounding, low-noise design, and DFx practices for PCB and PCBA manufacturing.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams; test software development or PLM experience is a plus.
