Job Description
AFRY Advanced Automation in Borlänge is part of AFRY’s initiative to deliver innovative and sustainable automation solutions to the industry. We work closely with our customers to create efficient, safe, and future-proof systems that contribute to increased productivity and reduced environmental impact.
Our team consists of engaged specialists within automation, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and project management, and we offer a dynamic work environment where competence development and collaboration are at the center.
We are looking for an automation engineer who wants to drive the development of advanced automation solutions within our projects.
Your area of responsibility is to ensure the automation needs in ongoing assignments, where you sometimes follow the entire project process – from customer idea and pre-sales support to commissioned plant – and sometimes contribute specialist competence in specific parts of the project.
You will also work as a sub-project manager, which means responsibility for planning, coordination, and follow-up of the automation part in our projects. The work takes place both locally from our office in Borlänge and in collaboration with AFRY’s other organization. A large part of our projects are within the steel and energy sectors.
The work weeks are varied. Some projects are for longer periods and imply continuity in tasks, while other weeks consist of shorter interventions in several different projects. You will work closely with our automation team in Borlänge, where collaboration and knowledge exchange are central.
We see you taking a leading role in our automation assignments, with a high level of responsibility and good collaboration skills. The role also implies that you function as a mentor for junior colleagues and contribute to the team's competence development.
At AFRY, there is a strong network of competence forums that connect our senior engineers across the entire organization. Here you get the opportunity to build relationships, share knowledge, and develop within new technical areas. System development is moving forward quickly, and our customers' system environments will need to be upgraded. Therefore, you need to be open to learning new platforms and technologies to meet future requirements. The role is not security classified at present, but may involve security classified assignments in the future.
Qualifications
In this role, it is important that you have a strong sense for planning and structure. You work methodically, create realistic expectations, and break down complex tasks into clear steps and sub-goals. Attention to detail and focus on specifics are a natural part of your working style.
We also value integrity. You put the team's and organization's goals first and always act with a professional and responsible attitude. Your ability to prioritize the whole makes you a secure and reliable resource in projects.
Finally, communication is a key competence. You express yourself openly and honestly, listen to others' perspectives, and create space for dialogue. By giving constructive feedback, you contribute to a climate where everyone can develop and perform their best.
