JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a probation officer, you will be responsible for conditionally released clients and clients sentenced to probation under supervision. The probation service is also responsible for intensive supervision with electronic monitoring, known as ankle bracelets, community service, and personal investigations. The work within probation largely consists of investigative work, conducting risk and needs assessments, and establishing plans for enforcement. The probation service also leads treatment programs for probation clients.

As a probation officer, you actively participate in influencing work directed at clients, among other things through structured conversations based on CBT, motivating participation in program activities, and assisting in release preparations for clients incarcerated in prison. Your duties also include submitting statements to the court and suggesting appropriate penalties.

The position begins with a two-week local introduction.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and has good self-awareness. You have a good understanding of how people absorb knowledge and adapt your way of conveying messages according to the recipient's conditions. In your professional practice, you have good judgment and integrity. As a probation officer, you need to have good collaboration skills and be able to communicate clearly. You should also have a physical condition that allows you to act physically if the situation requires.

You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally through your approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • High school diploma with final grades.
  • Academic studies, for example, programs in behavioral science, social sciences, or law, social work program, or other fields that the employer deems equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.

It is advantageous if you have:

  • Academic degree (at least bachelor's level), for example, in behavioral science, law, social work, or social sciences, or other academic education combined with experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant.
  • Current and well-rated work experience in corrections, social care, psychiatry, or health and social care.
  • Current experience in case management.
  • Driver's license (B).
  • Relevant language skills.
