Our care recipient is a woman in her 20s living in her own apartment in central Karlstad.

After completing her studies, she will have full-time personal assistance starting in June. She lives with CP injury, epilepsy, and brain fatigue. We are now looking for six dedicated employees to form a completely new assistance group around our care recipient. As her assistant, you play a crucial role in supporting her towards an independent life where the goal is for her to be able to participate in society and live a life like others. Your assistance is entirely based on her specific needs and enables an active and meaningful everyday life.

Job Responsibilities

As a personal assistant, you will play an important role in daily life and at home. The care recipient lives alone in an apartment and needs support in all aspects of her daily life. Job responsibilities include support with medication management, working with a feeding tube, and other care tasks including personal hygiene. The work also involves assistance with transfers where ceiling lifts and slings are used. As an assistant, you need to be able to work motivationally to support her in her daily life. Some double assistance may occur.

The assignment also includes accompanying her on activities outside the home. Since visits to swimming pools occur, you need to be comfortable in water and swimming. There may be travel involved in the job as assistance may sometimes be performed at locations other than her home. Introduction for the position may take place in Gothenburg before June. The work involves working alone as you will be close to the care recipient in her home environment. Work shifts are scheduled for day, evening, or night with active time.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with previous experience in care work. It is advantageous if you have specific knowledge about CP injury and epilepsy or if you have experience working with feeding tubes. Since the work can be physically demanding, for example during transfers with lifting aids, you need to have good physical fitness. Pets are present in the home and around the care recipient, which means you cannot be allergic to fur-bearing animals.

To succeed in this role, you need to be confident, calm, and attentive, both in your personality and in your interactions. You have previous experience working with motivational interventions for care recipients. You should be proficient in the Swedish language, both spoken and written. Since you will be working closely with the care recipient in her home, we place great importance on personal suitability and chemistry.
