Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and turbulence modeling who possesses strong collaboration skills.

Flow electrification is an electrokinetic phenomenon involving charge separation at an interface between solid and liquid due to flow movements. The magnitude of the generated current depends on the turbulent intensity. In this postdoctoral project, we will use CFD and turbulence modeling to investigate the properties of flow electrification, particularly the interaction between the electric double layer and the turbulent boundary layer. Flow electrification can affect the electrical stress in high-voltage insulation systems in power transformers, which are critical components of the electrical grid. Improved modeling will facilitate the transition to sustainable materials and innovative design solutions.

Qualifications

Requirements

• A completed PhD or foreign degree deemed equivalent to a PhD. This eligibility requirement must be met by the time the employment decision is made.
• Experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) at the modeling and solver level, focusing on turbulence modeling, transition, and boundary layer theory.
• Good understanding of transport phenomena and multiphysical coupling.
• Excellent skills in both written and spoken English as daily operations are conducted in English.

Desirable

• At the time of the application deadline, no more than three years since the PhD or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a PhD was awarded.
• Knowledge in electrochemistry.
• Motivated and engaged in research in the field of high-voltage components.
• An adaptable professional who is collaborative but can also work independently to achieve a common goal.
• Goal-oriented mindset.
• Awareness of diversity and equality issues, with a particular focus on gender equality.
