Our Operations
The Endocrine Oncology department is a unit within the area of blood and tumor diseases located in the 100-building. In 100 A, we care for patients with both oncological and oncological-endocrinological tumor diseases. Patients come here for investigation, examinations, and various treatments from all over Sweden and some from Europe. We have both acute and elective admissions, and the lengths of stay for our patients vary from a few days to several weeks. With us, you will have a varied job where you can combine basic nursing with some acute care. We can offer an interesting and pleasant workplace where you will learn a lot about different cancers and the patients we care for here.
Your Mission
As a nursing assistant, you are responsible for basic nursing care. You observe, assess, and provide good basic nursing. In your role, you will also have the opportunity to receive delegation in, among other things, venipuncture, administration of tube feeding, care of drains, and placing catheters.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a trained nursing assistant, a nursing student who has completed semester 3, or a medical student who has completed semester 6. You have good knowledge and skills in basic nursing. You also have good computer skills, and it is an advantage if you know the Cosmic journal system.
If you are a nursing student and have completed semester 4, there is an opportunity to alternate between nursing assistant work and care assistant, where you as a care assistant can perform nursing tasks. Care assistants are employed with the title of assistant. Tasks that the care assistant can work with include regular nursing assistant tasks and assisting a licensed nurse in their work. The care assistant always works under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Examples of possible tasks under supervision include admission of planned/emergency patients, discharge conversations, documentation in Cosmic, peripheral and central sampling, participating in rounds, coordination functions, performing risk assessments and actions, IV insertion, EKG, and medication administration. Some tasks require delegation, and this is carried out as much as possible during the onboarding but also continuously during the temporary position.
Your Competence
The variation in the work means that you should be flexible, responsible, and able to adapt to acute situations and be willing to step in where needed. Be positive about new challenges, be able to collaborate with all professional categories, be punctual, and take initiative when it comes to patient care. Great emphasis is placed on personal qualities. We wish for you to show commitment to taking multiple delegations to perform relevant tasks for our department.
We Offer
We offer you a summer temporary position between weeks 24-33, full or part-time, with the possibility of hourly employment later. We prefer that you work all weeks or alternatively in period 1 (weeks 26-29) or period 2 (weeks 30-33), you can also work both periods. Introduction will be scheduled before the start of the periods, but will be discussed during the interview. With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
