Do you also have experience working with individuals with autism or intellectual disabilities? Then you are exactly who we are looking for!
About Nytida Kasper Camp At Kasper Summer Camp, children, youth, and young adults with level 1 autism, Asperger's syndrome, and/or mild intellectual disabilities come to have two fun summer weeks. Here, they get the chance to try new activities and meet friends in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Kasper Summer Camp is part of Nytida, one of Sweden's leading actors in LSS, SoL, and education, focusing on support and service for people with disabilities and psychosocial issues.
As a leader at the summer camp, you will be offered a varied and fun job. Our activities are always based on our participants' strengths, interests, and dreams, which means that activities and excursions vary from period to period.
About the role As a camp leader, you will work with 8-13 other camp leaders. You will be responsible for planning and implementing activities as well as engaging and motivating our participants. You will also be responsible for care and support in areas such as hygiene, cleaning, and maintenance of local spaces together with the staff group, as well as social documentation.
It is of utmost importance that you collaborate and communicate with your colleagues to maintain routines, safety, and make the camp as enjoyable as possible for our participants.
Working hours vary and include daytime, evening, and on-call shifts. Each period is approximately two weeks, and we would like you to work two periods during the summer.
The employment is in the form of a fixed-term contract.
Workplace As a leader at Kasper Summer Camp, you will live together with your colleagues at the camp site you work at. We have two locations in Skåne and one in Östergötland. The living situation can be described as simple but cozy, where you share a room with 2-3 other camp leaders.
The food served at the summer camp is simple, but since a chef is on-site, allergies and dietary preferences are of course taken into account.
Your experience and knowledge Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
You are proactive, solution-oriented, and ready to take responsibility. The work may involve participants' interests, feelings, wishes, and needs requiring you as a leader to act quickly and initiate a completely new or different activity. Rapid changes and participants with expectations require you to be calm, attentive, flexible, and creative. You have a strong commitment to people and enjoy working in a team.
It is highly desirable that you have experience working with children and youth or with individuals with autism spectrum disorders and/or intellectual disabilities. We work with clear pedagogical methods and low-arousal responses and see prior experience in these as a significant advantage.
In your application, describe how your experiences can contribute to creating a great team and a fantastic summer camp. Remember that your hobbies can also contribute to a fun camp for our participants. Write about anything you are good at and would enjoy teaching. Sports, games, and crafts are popular with us. Extra points if you can play role-playing games, D&D, and Magic :)
At camp, we drive to and from various excursions, a B driver's license and driving experience are required. If you state that you have a driver's license, you are expected to be able to drive the vehicles for work.
