The Transport Department (TA) is tasked with transporting and supervising individuals deprived of their liberty. These are clients of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service being moved between detention centers and prisons, to court hearings, and hospitals, among other places. TA also transports individuals deprived of their liberty for the Police, the National Board of Institutional Care, the Migration Agency, and psychiatry. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a correctional officer, you will be part of a team where everyone is responsible for different roles in carrying out client transports. You will encounter a wide variety of clients of different ages, backgrounds, and experiences. You will search, restrain with handcuffs, and supervise the client during transport.

The assignments of the Transport Department are varied, meaning your working hours may change from day to day. Evening, night, and weekend work may be required. The scheduled times are frame times, usually 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Nationally, it is more common to finish before the frame time ends, and in most cases, you will have a fixed start time. Frame time means that the employer can change the start and end times. Changes will be communicated before the previous shift ends. Working hours are adjusted, and if you work more than planned, you will receive overtime compensation. If you work less, you will still receive your normal salary.

Before you start with us, you will receive an introduction to ensure you feel secure in your new role. You will work in a team with regular staff where you will collectively carry out and plan the day's tasks.

The introduction lasts for two weeks during weeks 24-25. Some flexibility regarding the introduction may be possible.

For the Transport Department, the vacation period extends from week 26 to week 34, with the possibility of extra work before and after the summer period for those who wish.

QUALIFICATIONS

Working as a correctional officer means you can make a difference for other people and contribute to a better society. The role requires high personal suitability. As a correctional officer, you need to be clear, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. To thrive and succeed in your role, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and the belief that people can develop. You will become part of a safe and engaged work community where collaboration, responsibility, and respect are central values. You need to have good physical fitness to handle a sedentary job and to act physically when required.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
• Work experience, even in the form of seasonal work, hourly employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment.
• Good ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish
• Good computer skills
• Driver's license (B) and good driving experience

It is advantageous if you have:

• Work experience in relevant areas, such as corrections, security work, and service professions
• Education in relevant fields, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law
• Relevant language skills
