Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand facilities, and client transport.

The Saltvik operational area includes the prisons Saltvik, Härnösand, and Ljustadalen, as well as the remand facility Saltvik. Within the operational area, there is a wide range from the open women's prison Ljustadalen to the closed prison Saltvik, which in addition to standard units also has one of the country's three security units. The prison in Härnösand is also a closed facility. The largest professional group is correctional officers, but we also employ healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, and more. Inmates are engaged in education, various treatment programs, or work within the prison's packaging/assembly, laundry, or woodworking. You can easily reach the Saltvik prison and remand facility by bus or car, with parking available for staff. The Härnösand prison is located in the town center with good bus connections and staff parking. The Ljustadalen prison is just outside Birsta and also offers staff parking and good bus connections.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As the duty officer, you will, in consultation with the correctional inspector, be responsible for security in the Saltvik operational area and operationally lead and distribute daily tasks. You will follow up on daily security work and take necessary actions as needed. The duty officer is on duty around the clock from Monday to Sunday and serves as the highest local operational decision-maker outside office hours under the correctional manager on standby. You represent the employer and ensure that the management line is maintained throughout to all staff, anchoring decisions made and providing support to the correctional inspector. Decision-making occurs according to the regulations of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.

As the duty officer, you will also participate in admissions and discharges and ensure that security routines are followed. Furthermore, you will conduct security assessments, make decisions, plan transports, and assess daily staffing needs as well as short-term personnel ranking in the work. In the role of duty officer, you should also be prepared to assist where needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is calm, stable, and controlled. You have good judgment and make quick decisions despite limited information or difficult circumstances. You coordinate groups and become a reference point for others. Furthermore, you need to be clear in your communication and be able to work well with others.

You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. We are looking for someone who has:

• Completed upper secondary education or other training combined with relevant work experience.
• Experience in leadership.
• Good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form.
• Good IT skills.
• Driver's license B.

We consider it an advantage if you have:

• Completed the basic training of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
• Completed the duty officer training of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
• Experience working within the correctional system.
• Experience with the administrative support systems of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
