Are you ready for a bigger challenge?
The Swedish Police Authority is Sweden's largest government agency with approximately 40,700 employees across the country. With us, you have the opportunity to contribute to the Police's mission - to increase safety and reduce crime in society.
Police Region North is the largest region in terms of area. The region consists of the four northernmost counties in Sweden and is organized into four police areas: Jämtland, Norrbotten, Västerbotten, and Västernorrland, which are further divided into 12 local police areas. Additionally, there are three regional units: the operational unit, the intelligence unit, and the investigation unit.
Workplace Description
Within the local police area of Southern Ångermanland, there are six BF/IGV groups that handle crime prevention, event-driven, and planned operations around the clock. The intervention operations are based in three locations within the local police area, including Sollefteå, Kramfors, and Härnösand, which is the main location.
We are now looking for someone who wants to work as an external commander with a geographical placement in LPO Southern Ångermanland. The assignment includes operational responsibility for external management within both the entire police area and the local police area. Placement in the BF/IGV group, reporting to the local group manager.
Job Responsibilities
As an External Commander, you are responsible for planning, leading, developing, and following up on efforts in the police area's external operations. The work encompasses both the local intervention operations' work towards set goals and the minute-operational assignment. The tasks are based on a comprehensive responsibility for the operations and are based on the current problem picture of the police area. In this role, you lead the external operations either on behalf of the regional duty officer at the regional command center, on behalf of the group manager within BF-IGV, or independently through assigned delegation. Within the police area, several external commanders may serve simultaneously, one of whom has the function of county external commander. The external commander has a clear employer and work environment responsibility and is one of the duty officer's primary management resources. Finally, the function as an external commander is conducted in shifts and is staffed around the clock, every week of the year, and has its base placement in the BF/IGV group within the local police area.
In the role of external commander, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting and leading all or parts of the police area's intervention operations (External management).
- Supporting and leading all or parts of the local police area's crime prevention or crime investigation activities.
- Acting as police operation chief when necessary.
- Planning, leading, and following up on special events and planned efforts.
- Being responsible for leading the work at crime scenes, including taking and ensuring quality of extensive first-hand measures.
Qualifications
We also consider it an advantage if you have:
- Police education, in accordance with the Police Ordinance (2014:1104)
- Current experience of working in a supervisory role for at least six months where you have led your employees towards goals with good results.
- Ability to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English
We also consider it an advantage if you have:
- Experience in external management, leading and planning efforts, and supervising employees in assignments towards set goals within event-driven and planned crime fighting.
- Experience in other supervisory roles, either within or outside the agency, which the employer deems relevant.
- Experience in crime investigation work that the employer deems relevant, such as investigation rotation.
- Training in the EFP method (search for missing persons).
Personal Qualities
We are looking for someone who has a good ability to identify challenges and make thoughtful decisions. You work towards the organization's common goals and clearly see how your role as a supervisor contributes to the overall development and results of the organization.
As a supervisor, you are expected to remain calm in pressured situations and act confidently and steadily even when conditions change rapidly. You are flexible in your working methods and adapt to the needs of the organization.
The role requires you to have good communication skills. You are clear in your leadership, convey goals and expectations in a clear and motivating way, and are receptive to your employees. You enjoy collaborating with others, creating participation in the workgroup, and contributing to an open and constructive working climate.
When filling this position, we will place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
